Palace Announces Prince William and Kate getting married

I know most of you guys are American and may or may not care but I'm Canadian and think it's exciting.

It's so funny too because we just bought airline tickets to go to London in July and last night I was talking to my dd 5 about the royal family.

I showed her a few pictures of Buckingham Palace and Prince William and Harry. I then told her that when Prince William gets married we would wake up early to watch all the stuff aired just like I did with my mom when Dianna married Charles.

she thought it was exciting and asked when they would have a wedding. well last night it wasn't announced and I just said well hopefully soon but hopefully not in July when we'll be away.

American's will be all over this news. I don't know what the coverage was like up in Canada, but I remember Charles and Diana's wedding! It was a media spectacle.

As we have much closer to ties to Britain then Americans do I would imagine we would have some kind of coverage.

on no doubt - if it is anything like when diana and charles married half of Canada will be up watching either BBC or Whatever Canadian channel is flooded with coverage.

no kidding - we were up at 4am watching everything, flipping from channel to channel to see who had the best coverate. All this before PVR's lol

For sure! I was just annoyed at the suggested by the previous poster that the Americans would be more interested than Canadians. It's not like they have the Queen on their currency or anything.

I'm not speaking for the poster you quoted but the OP's first line was "I know most of you guys are American and may or may not care." My impression was that Disney1fan2002 was replying to that statement by saying that Americans ARE interested--not trying to turn it into a contest.

I mean, my DH is a British citizen and I can guarantee that I will watch the wedding and he'll avoid all the coverage like the plague.

no i think she meant that even though they fought to get our from the royality a lot of americans actually love the royal family. don't think they'd ever want to be joined again but doesn't stop them from being royal watcher

I also love her ring (Canadian here!) the fact that they gave her Diana's engagement ring the blue sapphire with diamonds. I watched TLC's William and Kate a love story she wasnt a cute kid but she's sure pretty now!

When I was younger instead of where's waldo books I had find Di and Charles on their honeymoon books haha

WHAT? Geesh it is amazing to me what can be "read" on a message board.

I meant nothing by what I said. I was replying to the original poster about the interest here in America. The OP stated she didn't know whether we Americans may or may not care about a Royal wedding. I pointed out what Charles and Diana's was like here in the good Ole USA.

How you got that I said we were more interested than Canada...holy cow!
