Well we couldn't help ourselves - we shelled out the $50 and bought one.
Everytime you walk into a park our PAL would twitch and giggle and then you just had to press one of his hands (i can see them getting very dirty) and he'd start telling you about the entrance you just came through. As you go by or near attractions he'll talk about them or give you tips e.g. best places to view illuminations etc.
When he's not in a park or if you just want to hear him talk you can just press his hand and he'll tell you some great Cheesy jokes (they're the best)

What do you call Pluto if he sits to close to the fire?
A hot dog
Also when you get home you can play 3 different games with him.
We also purchased a new mini hand held trivia game which I have to say some of the questions are quite hard and if you get it wrong it won't give you the answer. A bigger version of this plays games with the kids but I didn't see what type of games.
So if you're heading out to WDW there are some new great Disney purchases to be made that's for sure
