Pal Mickey still useful?

Last time I was in DW (2006) we enjoyed our Pal Mickey. In fact, ours broke and an All Star Hotel CM replaced it for free. Are they still being used? Should I plan to bring him back?

Yes he still works. However I see less and less people using them and I kind of left it at the hotel on our third day and decided life was easier without him. Of course I had to carry the Video Camera, the photocamera, my walkie talkie, the stroller, the diaper bag, and chase around the 9 and 5 year old all day. So I guess I just fell that I needed one less thing to worry about. Plus the girls, who use to fight over pal mickey, did not even want to listen to him anymore. I don't know, maybe they need a pal minnie or goofy to get their interest back again.

Maybe this is a silly question, but what is a Pal Mickey?

He is my avatar. Pretty much a stuffed toy that is "attached" to the park. He tells you when there are parades starting or characters milling about or if you are really lucky, he tells you when a line is short. He also gives you little insider comments about the parks and their history and tells jokes. My favorite are his little random comments, like after Tot, he said he had fun "but next time can we take the stairs?"

I adore this thing and would not be caught in Disney without him! However I am an adult traveling only with adults so I have no children to try and keep track of along with Mickey.
