Pal Mickey Question?

We have 5 kiddos a 5 new pal mickey's for Christmas. My question is once you turn it to the "on" position is there anyway to go back to hear themepark tips? Or does he only play games after you turn him to "on"? Do we have to wait to go to the themeparks to hear anymore tips? My DD 10 is afraid to turn hers to "on" since when the others did they lost the demo and the themepark tips? Any suggestions or help?

Wow! That's a lot of Pal Mickeys! With ours, we turned him off and then once we got to MK, turned him on and he just started back with the theme park tips. I think the demo ends once you turn him on and he just plays games. Not that long to go though and he'll be back "home" and they can enjoy him in the parks.

As far as I can tell, Pal Mickey doesn't bring anything home with you except some games and jokes. When you're in the parks, there are wireless transmitters sending out the info he's sharing with you. I'm no techie, but I think he's just a mouse with very little brain (to paraphrase Pooh!).

Any techies want to jump in here?

Park information is downloaded via mickeys nose when you enter a WDW park. He does NOT work in Disneyland or at home (except for the jokes and games). You need to hold him facing front for the invisible rays to penetrate the Mouses brain. No putting Mickey in a bag. This will update him for the newest park info and orient him to where he is. If he is spouting about MGM and you are in AK, go to a cast member in a store. They can usually fix the issue.

How? It doesn't matter. They just do. I've seen them do it. Try putting all the tech stuff down will just hurt everyones brains.

Pal Mickey works using an RFID -- basically, like the E-passes on the toll roads. When you pass or get close to a certain transmitter point in the parks, PalMickey starts telling you tips or jokes relating to where you are. We had so much fun with ours and loved how he 'knew' where we were!

Thanks for all of your replies. I get it now and will explain it to my DD. I hope she will decide to go ahead and play with him. I know she will really enjoy him when we get to the parks! Only a few months to go until we are back in the "magic".

We bought our Pal Mickey XMAS 2003! We had a BLAST with him while we were there! We are going 01/29/06, we would like to take him back with us, can we get him UPDATED? Where would I go for that and is there a cost?

Pal Mickey updates as you enter the turnstiles the front of the Florida Disney World Parks only. You don't need to do anything other than have him out (not in bag or back pack) and facing forward and he will up date him-self.

What you won't get is the new games etc. that the NEW AND IMPROVED verion comes with. Personally I plan in keeping my OLD AND LOVED one for quite a while before giving disney another $65 for a new PAL.

If you have the new version of pal mickey and he doesnt work in the parks there is no update for him they have to give you a new one he cant be put on a machine and fixed like the old version apprently could.
