Ok, in my excitement I purchased two Pal Mickeys off ebay for $65 (that included shipping). After receiving the PalMicks I see they have a price tag of $13.99 on the box. THEN I read the newer PMicks have a tux and the older version does not get all the information from the newer rides. I emailed the seller several times because her listing stated that I could get the most updated info with these PalMicks and that they sell for $65 in the park. I have emailed her several times and she finally sent me a very snotty email telling me that the price tags were wrong AND these will receive ALL the information from the park. Can anyone clarify this for me....will the PalMicks without tuxes get all the information from the parks? Is it true I could have purchased these older versions for $13.99?? And finally can anyone direct me to an official site that I can get this information to send to her? I know there probably isn't anything I can do to get my money back (at this point I'd rather have ONE newer version) but she is STILL advertising these older versions to get all the information in the park and stating an incorrect price. I'd hate for others to fall into the same trap I did.

I have an "older" Pal Mickey that I bought off Ebay a year ago or so. ($15 or so)
He worked FINE this last trip at Christmas...told me everything. (short lines, parade times, etc)
I wouldn't worry as far as I know they all recieve the information. I did read something about a place that you can get him a 'check up"??

Ok...the lady u purchased from is right. Any/all Pal Mickeys can be updated on Main Street. There is a Pal Mickey store next to the candy shop. They put Mickey's nose into a machine, hit a few buttons and viola! updated! We called Disney on this one (we bought the older Mickey too) and they all recieve identical communications from the parks. We were told to rest assured, all Pal Mickeys are made to constantly update themselves when in the parks because times, attractions are constantly changing. Apparently certain towers send out signals that your PM pics up and then delivers to you. The main differences between the new and old may be a few extra sayings (jokes, etc) and his clothes, but the info he recieves at the parks is exactly the same. As far as I have seen, even the older Mickeys still go in stores for over $20.00 unless u find a sale or something. Another reason we bought on Ebay also. My DD loves him and if your concerned with his clothes...they now have a full array of outfits you can buy for ur PM.

Don't sweat it.
The "old" (I prefer CLASSIC) Pal Mickey works just GREAT in the parks today.

He may not say a "few" things (but you'll NEVER notice).

He WILL talk a LOT (jokes, park info, attraction info, parade info, meet and greet info)... a LOT.

Now, as an EBAY "veteran" I won't lecture you, but I will just SAY the you must KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BIDDING ON, BEFORE YOU BID.

Yes, the Pal Mickeys you paid $65 for originally sold at WDW for $49 ea.

Yes, the Pal Mickeys you paid $65 for were sold at Disney outlets for $13ea.

BUT yes, the Pal Mickeys you paid $65 for will work FINE and be a lot of fun at WDW today.

Make sure your Pal's are out in the open as you approach and enter each theme park (that's when they "download" info as to where/what/etc.)

If for some reason Pal Mickey does not make Park comments IN THE PARK, just ask a CM where to take him for a quick "check-up".
For instance, on Main Street in MK there is a Pal Mickey STORE.
They can place him next to a computer and make sure he's OK.
But the chances of NEEDING to do this is very small.

Have fun in WDW with your Pals!

I am also an Ebay veteran, as buyer and seller. Her listing said all updated information would be received. After purchase and delivery I saw a picture of a PalMick with a tux and then I was told the older versions do not receive information on rides such as Soarin'. As an Ebayer my number one pet peeve are listings that do not state the truth. That's why I emailed the seller and asked (very nicely if I might add) if she knew if these versions would get all the information. She ignored all my emails until the last one where she got extremely snotty with me. At any rate, I just don't want people to be deceived about what they are getting.

I have read conflicting reports on this site about the "check up" you can get for PalMicks...some say take it to the shop, some say the updates will be automatic.

Thanks for your info, we'll take our PalMicks to the park and enjoy. :)

Always said ebayers beware. You got to watch them prices and know what you're bidding on. I've watched items on ebay get bid on higher than what you can buy for in a store and most shipping prices are way too high.

Well said Pepe of Ohio....I bought my PM on ebay and did lots of research before bidding. I also called a Dis.# to find out about the dolls themselves and how they get the "information" before bidding. So let me clarify...I was told that u don't have to bring your PM into the shop to update, although some folks do and u can too. All that is required is to have ur PM facing outward upon entering the parks...he will pick up the signal and updated information just fine. If these threads are misleading...give Disney a call, they are eager to help out. Hope this helps. He is still a wonderful little addition, IMHO. :wave2:

We were just there this past October and didn't need to go to the 'update store' we just had him out as we entered the gates! he is also the "classic" mickey! we almost bought the new one, but figured we didn't need it!

The price tag of $13.99 on your Pal Mickey is there because the seller probably bought it at one of the Disney Outlet stores and is now selling it for a profit on Ebay.

Disney sent the older versions to their Outlet stores this past fall and they were scooped up for $13.99 pretty fast!!

Your's will work fine once you're in the park. We had an older one and it worked just like the newer ones, he was just a little underdressed at times :earboy2:

Thanks everyone! I guess I was a little peturbed because my emails went unanswered and then I got such a snotty response. I'll take our PalMicks and I'm sure the kids will love them. I never planned on entering negative feedback or contacting ebay....just thought she should have the correct info in her listing. I always am faithfully honest when selling! Of course, regardless of what PalMick says...we'll have a great time! :thumbsup2

I, too, have heard that the "classic" PM doesn't give info on the newer rides like Soarin', so you'll have to let us know how it goes (I have the "classic" that I got from Character Premiere for $13.99). Have fun.

Your pal mickey will NOT talk about soarin or any of the shows or rides that were added after he came out. That information is not built into him. He will receive updates on parade and show times, character greetings, short ride lines and things of that nature. If you go to the walt disney website they have a page for pal mickey that will give you more information about the newest version versus the old.
