We have not gotten the Pal Mickey the pass 2 years because my son was still a little young. This year he will be almost 5 yrs old and I am thinking that he would enjoy having it. Do you feel it is worth getting?

I LOVE my pal mickey. The only thing I dont like is that he is a bit inconvenient to carry but hey, he is fun!! I think he is worth it cause you can take him with you everytime you go! He is great. They are getting better about his updates and his technology all the time. Especially for a 5 year, it will seem like he is alive!

Unfortunately for us, we found him to be inconvenient and ended up ditching him after 2 days. He's bulky and from what we found in April he's not that helpful. We purchased it mainly for our 3 year old thinking it would be his buddy while were there. He quickly lost interest. So he ended up strapped to our stroller most of the time. His jokes were okay and my son seemed to like them, but he repeats them alot and is constantly shaking.
His information is okay, but nothing you don't already know from being on these boards.
We tried it and decided it wasn't for us. That's not say that if you a big mickey fan that you won't.

We have it, taken it with us now for 2 trips, drag it to every park, every day, and are clueless about what it is supposed to do. If it is supposed to tell us stuff, we never know when. We basically can't hear it, and we can't feel him vibrate. Yet, he still comes with us, and will most likely come along again next trip. I was hoping for good info from him like letting us know about short ride times or about shows starting soon. Haven't gotten anything that good out of him yet.

I adore the thing and have had no issues (except on the second day when he stopped working and needed new batteries. I guess he had been played with a lot in the store). I do wish he would not try to sing with me or tell me those jokes all teh time, but his comments really make my trip. After riding ToT he said something like, "that was fun and all, but next time can we take the stairs?" He told me about short lines and parades, but rarely character sightings, but that is all based on what the programmers put into the computer every morning, since he just spits out the info he receives from the transmitters. He commented on almost every ride and gave me lots of tidbits. I had heard/read all of the info before, but he made me stop to look at the gondolas in Epcot and the names on the windows of main street. Just because you know something is there doesn't mean you will stop and actually look at it. He "reminded" me to do so. He really makes my trip.

I bought Pal Mickey (v1) for myself when he first came out, and I'm 40 now. Eventually, I will probably get a newer one, but we (me and my kids) still carry him with us when we go to WDW. So, it's really a matter of whether or not you feel he is worth that kind of money.

HUGE Pal Mickey freak checking in here. I have all three versions and PM has such an extensive wardrobe that I have been known to pack his own suitcase for longer trips to the World.

However, I would say, if you are looking to PM for information, there are better sources like the tip boards in each park. If you want a little fun and a way to strike up conversations with other Guests and CMs, then PM is your guy!

If you had to carry him on a lanyard or belt clip, he could become unwieldy. He has a loop sewn into the back of his head to fit the plastic clip he comes with. But, the plactic clip certainly isn't heavy duty and my PM has taken more than one tumble to the pavement

Here is the solution I came up with: I generally wear a small denim backpack covered with WDW patches while I'm in the parks. So, I sewed a couple of metal loops on one of the straps and I use a small caribeener to clip him to one of the loops. Much more convenient. Plus, I can hear him better and don't have to worry about the plastic clip breaking.

Here is a couple of pictures of my PM in some of his outfits:

We got my daughter (5) and nephew (5) one last year.

They were cute, but the volume is so low, you couldn't hear what he was saying most of the time.

I say skip.

We love our Pal Mickey and always take him with us. We just bought a new one because we couldn't update our other one anymore.

What do you mean you can't update him anymore. I thought that he updates everytime you walk into a park.

My DD asked if we should get a new one but I told her that he updates when we enter the parks.

The data updates - what time parades are what rides have short lines, etc.

But, his content is hard coded. So, if you have version 1, he will never talk about the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Stitch's Alien Escape, etc.

Only if you want to dress him up - he will give you no info about the party itself.

Every year, my PM goes to MNSSHP with me. This year he was dressed as a harlequin clown.

how much does he cost??? DO you buy him at the parks and would he be suitable for a 4 year old boy???? thanks alot !!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

$65, plus tax.

He can be bought at the parks, at the resorts, at DTD, at the Orlando airport's Disney store...

You should check eBay, too.

He'd be great for a 4 y o boy.

You can buy him at the parks. We got ours at our resort store. He was $65 and we think he's worth every penny. We just think he's fun to have around. We think he's suitable for a four year old. Our grandchildren all have them, and they are 3, 5, and 6.

Pal Mickey and think he was worth every penny. He was great in ques for attractions and helped our grandsons past the time plus with him they met several new children and made new friends when playing trivia games with them in ques.I see you are pretty new to the Dis I would like to welcome you and say glad to see you here on the boards.:goodvibes :goodvibes Danny

Can you buy him at an online disney store? I am thinking of maybe getting him for Christmas for my kids to share while on our April/May trip? Thanks, Jen
