::MickeyMo Re: the PAL MICKEY DOLL....IS HE WORTH IT???
I see I can purchase for $50 or rent for $8/day. Are the facts and trivia any good? Or is it just a hassle? What does he do when I get him home?

Peace and thanks.:wave2:

I was having the same thoughts as brock. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Personally, I've never tried it, but if I was going to, I'd rent it and make sure I liked it. Apparently, he's very funny to the kids and actually very informative.

I think he even gives parade and show times?? Maybe I'm wrong there.

This is such a personal descion! I read all the threads on Pal Mickey, finally thought why dont I at least try the Pal Mickey Swap (I have a dd7) lol, I waited too long - hesitated - $60 is a lot for a stuffed animal that will sit around...

some of the complaints were it was heavy to carry (not real heavy, just think the battery pak) it isnt real loud - with crowds you'll need to put it up to your ear... oh and sometimes (usually at Epcot I believe) it is out of synch and you have to take it to the specified store for instance ours seemed out of synch at Epcot, we did a trip over to MGM so I asked at guest services the store that has the Kodak on the corner was the place to take it... and Mickey worked perfectly!! (the left hand wasnt sensing ) so the next day we went to Epcot to see if it happens only there - never happened again!!

I went ahead and purchased it, knowing if I 'rented' it, dd wouldnt give it back, so I didnt want the hassle of standing in 2 lines (the rent line, and the purchase line)

DD loved the corny jokes, dh and I hated having to "explain" the idioms to her, and yet, I think that is why I really liked it, our DS is hard of hearing and idioms are really hard to comprehend!

Right now MM just sits on a special chair- but gets hugs at least once a day!!

We also hope to return very soon to WDW, so I think for us MM was worth it...

PSS Yes, Mickey did give parade and show times, and told you if you wanted a good seat we should head over.... DD loved the jokes best... at Magic Kingdom Mickey told some trivia that dd let me hear, mostly Mickey was hers, she had a kid sized back pack that she put mickey in during the rides... or I got to hold Mickey!!

I love my Pal Mickey!! We play with him alot at home and we will be taking him back for our trip in NINE DAYS...sorry, had to...

Anyway, we love him. A friend of ours took him for their trip and ended up buying their own before they came back so they would have him all to theirselves!

He gives lots of "tidbits", tells corny jokes (I love them) and lots of park information when you are there.

I have heard other people say that when he starts acting weird or giving wrong information, to get new batteries (any store in the park, I hear, will replace them for you for free).

We love our Pal Mickey!!! DW got it for the kids (yeah right  ) , but I get to carry it ;)

He tells great corny jokes synched with where you are in the parks and tells you little tidbits. We found it really helpful in Animal Kingdom and found some secret paths, etc. Best one was that his heart started fluttering when we met Minnie Mouse - Too cute.

It's a little pricey, but people spend way over that for souvenirs and at least this one stays with you and the kids can play the games, etc. while waiting for the next trip.

Is the availability to "download" updates at the park on future trips???

There is a sensor in his nose that automatically downloads and updates him when you walk through the turnstile...
