Pal Mickey & Glow Medallions

A friend on a recent trip picked up a Pal Mickey for me. On one of the sides of the box it mentions that Mickey will interact with certain Glow Medallions.
Where do you get these medallions & just what does it make him do?

When the new Pal Mickey's first came out, you could get a medallion on a lanyard that would light up. They are no longer available.
