Does anyone know the difference between the original Pal Mickey and the 50th Anniversary one. I mean, if you take his tux off, does he look like the original one? Thanks!

You gave me a great chuckle! :rotfl2:  Not sure what you are asking. The original and the present one look the same. Except for the tuxedo. And that's as far as I will go with that!!!:rotfl:
The newer one tells stories and the like, just like the orginal, however, knows about the new things at WDW, where the original doesn't.

I thought there was somewhere at WDW where you can get an "OLDER" one updated.. I sure hope so as a friend of mine has loaned us hers and I would love to get it updated. :)

I know the post seems a bit funny but when someone doesn't know something be gentle, everyone was NEW to WDW at least once. :thumbsup2

Have a WDW magical day!

i purchased the sorcerer one off ebay with a twirly light thing for 50.00 my dd has been playing with since it arrived in the mail. can't wait to use it on our trip in december

I'm curious, too, as to how you get Pal Mickey updated. I'm borrowing one that was purchased last year, but I was told he could be updated at the parks. Can you do it somewhere at Downtown Disney, like at Guest Services?
The one I'm borrowing comes with 4 different outfits so we can dress him up according to what park we're visiting. I guess li'l Mickey and I will be "joined at the hip" for the duration of our stay. :)

We just came back from WDW Thursday and we have the same "Pal MIckey" that came out in 2003 and have taken him back to the park every time.::MickeyMo

No cost to update. Just take him in to the Pal Mickey shop. The CM said 'does your Pal Mickey need a check-up?". The CM put his little nose in a machine and pushed a few buttons.:thumbsup2 :mickeyjum :mickeyjum

Where is the Pal Mickey shop located? Are there several, one in each park? Downtown Disney? I'd like to get my Pal updated also.

The Only place I have updated our "Pal" was on "Main Street" in MK.
There is a shop that sells them next door to the candy shop.

I have been told that since he is older he will not contain AS MUCH new material because of a smaller "Memory" and he'll never know as much as the newer pal Mickey, but he still works great.

Okay, you all seem to like a laugh. Take this one on....
WHAT IS A PAL MICKEY? I am serious... now you all can laugh at me as long as you let me in on this. Also is it something that my older kids would like? (2DD 12 & 9)
Thank you in advance.

The Pal Mikey toy is a plush Mickey. He stands about 10 inchs tall. He is electronic and talks. His nose is a sensor and it picks up on where you are in the parks and tells you things to look for and cool facts. He'll tell you what time the next show starts or parade in that area too. When he has something to say he will shake and giggle. You then press his tummy and he'll spill his info. He will also tell jokes and stuff to entertain you while you wait in lines.

He's pretty neat for smaller kids. My DD has the maturity of an 8 year old and she love hers. But be warned he is not small or light to carry. He probably weighs a couple of pounds. He does come with a lanyard to carry him around but he does get cumbersome. I would imagine any age person could enjoy a Pal Mikey if they were in the mood.

You can probably loook him up on the Disney store site for more info.

Pal Mickey is a little electronic stuffed Mickey Mouse. About 10-12 inches tall( depending on the model) and He is seen in various styles. Here is a link to some info on the WDW site

He will vibrate when he wants to tell you something and do a silly Mickey Laugh. He can tell you where line waits are shorter, or remind you of shows or Parades( which he really saved our bacon one night as we let time get away from us at "Chef Mickey's "and he reminded us about the "Electrical Parade" so we hurried up and got over there just in time.)After you leave the Parks he will only tell you jokes and play a few silly games. Hard to say if your girls will think he is to "babyish" for them or not.My DD age 9 still likes it, and will carry him in the Parks. My DS who is 13 still likes to hear what he says... JUST NOT CARRY HIM AROUND.
One of the neatest things I have experienced is when "Pal" comes in contact with another "Pal" they can chat.

We don't even have kids and we bought a Pal Mickey on our last trip. :thumbsup2

The only real downside to him is he really goes through batteries. We had read this beforehand and brought along a charger and rechargable batteries. As long as we remembered to charge them up each night it was fine.

We also found he wasn't always accurate with information, especially in the MK. For example, one time he piped up that the wait time was short at the Pooh ride. We happened to be passing through Fantasyland at the time and looked at the wait times of several rides and it was actually the longest. Another time we sat him on the Roy Disney statue's lap for a picture then after we left and were halfway down Main Street he told us about Roy's statue. We did find he was a lot more accurate in Epcot.

He was a lot of fun though and we had a ball taking pictures of him around the parks to include in our Trip Report. We're actually looking forward to bringing him back with us in October.
