Pal Mickey Broken - who do I call?

So...we bought Pal Mickey 3 trips ago (about a year and a half ago), I of course lost the receipt, and we started having problems with him on trip #2. Brought him to the Pal Mickey store on Main St., and a CM got him back to functioning while at the same time ripping the fur on Pal Mick's head. I wanted to say something, but DH wanted me to just let it go (my mistake). Now, we are just back from trip #3, and Mick stopped working altogether. And wouldn't you know it? The darn Pal Mickey store is gone from Main St. now. We have changed the batteries, and we DO NOT use Mickey at home, only at the parks. Does anyone have any ideas who I can contact, and do you think they will be able to do anything to help us?
 
I'm not sure after a year and a half that they would do anything anyways? Most toys have a 90 day or so warranty, so I'm betting Pal Mickeys is already up.
 
I didn't think about that. Oh well. It just stinks because we got about 14 days use out of the thing before he konked out. What can you do, eh? DD wants another, but I'm not sure I'm willing to part with the cash for another after this experience. And honestly, it's kind of appealing to tour without lugging Mickey all over. Thanks for the post!
 
I know, it stinks that a toy that expensive typically doesn't have a better guarantee, especially since most people only use it on their trips:confused3
 

I am going to disagree and tell you that you should either bring him down there with you next and explain that he broke after 14 days of use OR call the number on any Disneyworld receipt and explain how heart broken your child is and how you cant afford another one ......

When I needed something exchanged I did it over the phone (dont ask = it was wrong personalization of a Christmas ornament and I did not even think to look at it until we were going out the door home). I needed to be persistent but eventually they replaced not only the one with the personalization on it but sent the whole package of four ornaments.

When we had our daughters umbrella break a few days after buying it back in 2000 my husband called the number on the receipt (while we were still there mind you) and they took care of him and followed up and a few weeks later....a brand-new personalized umbrella.

Disney really, really tries to satisfy the customer in this respect (at lieast in my experience they have.)

In March of 2005 I finally broke down and bought one of those oysters with the pearl in and "splurged" to have it set into a pendent....well, last summer the pearl dropped right off the pendent. I am bringing it with me when I go in a few weeks and I am going to the Kiosk in DTD and asking them to fix it.....we will see what happens because I dont have a receipt. And I dont think I am being pushy either - I hardly wore that necklace and it should not have happened.

Let us know what you decide........and how it turns out.

Oh and I would also mention about the ripped fur too..........I know you cant prove it but I have never known Disney to call someone a liar.
 
I am going to try! I don't think that it is too much to expect that something they sell and put their name on to work properly, especially since we are so darn careful with it! I am extremely loyal when it comes to Disney, and I just want them to stand by their product. Good luck with your necklace, I totally understand why you would want that fixed. Our Pal Mickey broke too right after we go him. We had one mail ordered to us and it arrived half broken. Luckily, DH was able to perform Pal Mickey surgery and got him working again. There was a short in his hand and he was able to rewire it.
 
I just had this same thing happen amd I called disney,the number is out in the car. They told me normally they wouldn't do anything because it was an older model. I explained that my DD1 was heartbroken and the lady told me to send it back with a check for shipping and they would send out a new one. It took three tries to get a CM willing to go the extra mile. She said she was told it was her decision how to handle it so don't give up. Pal Mickey left on his journey today keep your fingers crossed. PM me if you want the number I called.
 
We bought our Pal Mickey in 2005, he was on his third trip with us when we started having problems. We went to the pal mickey store on main street with my DD and Mickey in hand. They tried to fix him by rebooting, new batteries and such, nothing worked. My DD wanted another one but I said I didn't want to spend that much because this one had only worked for two trips about 14 days. The lady heard us talking and offerd to exchange it for a new one and I thought that was great. But my DD was really torn about not having her first pal mickey ( she gets very attached to her things) ever again and sat there trying to decide what to do. I told her she can exchange or use HER money to buy a new one. Well the CM was standing there the whole time and she said we could keep our old pal mickey and take the new one.:cool1: She took it out of the box and just gave it to us. I could not believe it! Now we had been to the store in MGM and they wouldn't do anything and seemed not to care. When I told the CM this she was really surprised by that. She did tell us that that store on main street was moving but I forgot where. I guess it depends on who you talk to we got really lucky that day. Our other DD has a pal mickey we also got in 2005 and we have had no problems out of it, but the new one is more updated and does more. Good Luck I hope you can get this fixed.
 
Thanks everyone for all the info, I am definitely going to give it a try. It's comforting/alarming to hear so many others are having problems with their Mick's as well!
