Pal Mickey: asset or liability?

If I'm posting this in the wrong forum, please forgive me. Wasn't sure where to put it.

Is Pal Mickey more trouble than he's worth, or did your kids really fall in love with him?

I'm asking cause I know my seven and a half year old will want one, but I don't know if I should give in or steer her away from it.

Is he A) worth the money, B) too hard to keep track of in the parks, C) just not worth it? D)totally awesome or E) somewhere in the middle?

Any experiences/input is very appreciated.

My girls split a pal mickey just this past August and they liked it, they are 6 and 8 years old. Even us "veterans" learned lots of new and interesting info esp at the AK. Things like the reason for they yellow ribbons and bells on the tree as well as cool facts about the tree of life. He was a bit annoying at times and often I found myself running into my girls as they stopped short to lift him to their ears. We had a quick lesson on why and how not to do that! The jokes are also VERY corney and can get on the nerves. I don't think they will play the games at home but my nephew (3yo) liked "mickey says".

He was helpful in reminding us while in line for the great movie ride that we would probably miss the parade and this enabled my girls to make an informed choice. They opted for the ride but I didn't have to hear complaning when we missed the parade.

The belt clip wasn't ideal to hold him on the girls belt bags so we used a the water bottle strap bought from a cart and the belt strap and that worked best.

All in all I would buy him again but we are lucky enough to visit a few times a year and will get our money's worth. I think you can rent one for the day or rent to own - perhaps that's the way to go if your unsure.

Thank you very much for your reply! I guess I'll most likely let my daughter decide once we're there...under the condition that if she gets it, she has to carry it LOL.

My grandaughter fell in love with Pal Mickey (she's 3).

My wife and I on our last trip escorted Pal Mickey through Epcot and learned a lot about the park, countries and heard some pretty cute jokes from Mickey.

We thought he was pretty cool. Plus: the CM's will ask you how he's doing, etc.

Pal Mickey costs $52 or so. You can rent him for $8 a day but you have to put a $50 deposit down. Much better to just purchase him.

I did not get him because I saw everyone that had him trying really hard to listen to what he had to say, holding him to their ears, scrunching their eyes, etc.

I'm going to get one for my dd for our trip.

A word of warning, I've seen posted several times, pal Mickey is very attractive to those with "light fingers", so keep a firm grip on him at all times.
