pajamas for Christmas

We have always done this in our family although we never did matching. My mom and I are doing it again this year. I got her a nightgown from Target with sock monkeys wearing
Santa hats.

My mother has always done this and still does. Only now it's mostly for the grandkids.

I had never heard of doing it until the DIS, I guess its pretty common!

Yep! Its from us though.. My kids always get jammies on Christmas eve. This year though, Grandma got excited and bought footie pajamas for all the kids.. So they will be from her, and not us. But still new jammies! Hmmmm... Maybe we should buy her a pair of footie pajamas! She would LOVE that!

Yeah, my mom gives them, they are always too big but...they are comfy as heck. PLUS she gives bubble bath, slippers and a bathrobe. It's awesome.

I've always bought my boys new pajamas for Christmas (they opened them on Christmas morning along with their other gifts) I never really thought of getting them a pair to wear on Christmas Eve though. I will definately be doing that this year and the years to come though. I like the thought of getting a Christmas morning photo when the kids actually look cute. LOL Well, they're 12 and 14 now, so.....we'll see how "cute" they are that morning.

I did buy them each 3 new pair for Christmas though. I guess Walmart was having them for $7 a pair (men's size) on Black Friday. Even though I didn't go on BF, they still have some today for the same price. I might take a spin down today and get each another pair to wear Christmas Eve, can't go wrong with getting a pair of fleece pajamas bottoms and a matching Tshirt for $7.

My grandparents always gave us pajamas on Christmas Eve. I didn't continue the tradition with dd although she usually does get sleepwear of some kind for Christmas.

YES !! we do this every year...new pjs for all of us...I am going to give them to them christmas eve.I am thinking of getting the kids robes this year also...they have been asking for them.

We do it every year for the kids. I have never thought of getting any for me and DH....hmmm....might do that this year. My kids are 10 and 12 so they have caught on and know that the gift on Christmas Eve will always be pj's. But I always put something else in it like a game or movie. I decided this year though to start putting a book in with them....they usually get a movie/game or two on Christmas day so I thought this would be a good time to throw in something educational. ;)

I think this is such a cozy tradition :thumbsup2! Our long distance DD #3 and family do new PJ's every C'mas eve, soon as church is over it's PJ city, holiday movies and goodies they've baked :goodvibes. They've even sent out C'mas photos of 3 kids in PJ's ! Matter of fact they have a tradition of lounging around in them all day C'mas! The years they come home to visit for holidays, needless to say - they dress! :rotfl2:

yep, been doing the pj's since oldest dd was born. I am very tempted this year, since several of my kids have TOO MANY pjs already, to substitute robes or slippers. But I just don't know if I can go against tradition, lol.

We started doing this for DS a few years ago after I read about it on the DIS. Now that he's 6, he's caught on. LOL! He started asking me if he could pick which present he opens on Christmas Eve...I think because he knows I always make him open PJ's! I always try to get him something Christmas themed if possible.

I never thought of doing it for me and DH. Might consider that this year!

LOL My kids are the opposite. They start reminding me several days in advance "Mom, don't forget our pajamas on Christmas EVE." (As if I have ever forgotten!!)

You cant do it, you must stick with it lol!!
Your kids will ask!!!

I am 36 yrs old and my Aunt has always since I was in middle school given me a pair of silly socks for xmas, the year she skipped I asked .. "Where are my socks!!" She hasnt forgotten again, we always get a big giggle out of it, it is just special for me, she doesnt do it for her DD's.

I always get my kids new pj´s for Christmas :)

I started doing this two christmases ago. BUT Santa dosen't get them we go pick them out. This year I made them sort of matchy cause they wore them for our Christmas card.

we do too - My mom always got new p.j.s when she was growing up and kept it up with us and I have kept it up with my kids...I will NEVER forget the one year I skipped it b/c dh convinced me they were too old :sad2: ...they all asked where were their jammies!!! I NEVER forgot them again...they were all teens at that time too...LOL....

We never did this, although we were always allowed to open a gift on Christmas Eve. However, my best friend's family always did this. Her dad would read the Night Before Christmas around 10 pm and her mom would sneak upstairs in the middle of it and put unwrapped Pj's on the kids beds. They always knew it was coming of course, but she did it up until the kids were in college!

We've started this tradition in our family. Last year was the first year that we were a complete family of four, so it was our first year and I plan to continue our new tradition. The girls are allowed to open 2 gifts on Christmas Eve...one is the PJ's, and another small one. We had matching ones last year and this year, but I'm not too sure how long that will last. I will just be happy with new PJ's in the years to come! It would be fun though to do something like sneaking upstairs and putting them on their beds!
