Painting furniture

Has anyone ever painted mission style furniture? I have refinished cabinets before so the process is familiar. I'm googling "painted mission furniture" and all I'm finding is black... Looking for a change but don't want to waste money (and be kinder to the environment) Does anyone think it looks good in other colors?

I think it would look good whatever color you paint it. White, brown, even a color would look great if you want it to be a focus price.
