Just got a call from someone at VB... just wanted us to know that they are still working on painting the buildings at Vero and that we might end up in one of those buildings. I tried to get more info but they were very vague about how this might or might not impact our stay.

Help!!!! anyone been there recently who can give me an idea of how much this will or won't be a nuisance for us? Thanks

Scooter,

We were at VB last week (wish we were still there).
Noticed a few painters around but didn't really notice exactly what building they were in.
We were in building 14, overlooking the pool.
Room 1432 is a 2 BR and we were very happy there.
You might consider faxing a request to the room controller a few days before your trip and request BLD 14.
If you are staying in a 1BR or Studio, I don't think any work was going on inside the inn...you might request there.

All in all, I don't think you'll be very inconvenienced.

Have a nice time!

We stayed at OKW once when they were painting the outside of our building. For the most part it wasn't an issue as they did the work during 'normal business hours', but during that time there was a fair amount of noise.....especially when they were scraping. I noticed it because the kids were young and we spent several hours each afternoon in the unit so they could take naps. We're early risers, but I image it could be an irritation for anyone who's trying to sleep in. We also had to walk through a bunch of paint flakes and step across drop cloths to get in and out of the unit.

I thought it was kind of strange that they didn't just block off that building given the amount of work they were doing, but I do think we were the only ones assigned there, and we did get those reservations under somewhat unusual circumstances.....we had been planning to join DVC, but hadn't done it yet, when we found out that my husband was going to be going to Disney for a convention. We therefore called our Guide and told him we'd join immediately if he could get us reservations.....it was only a few weeks out at that time. Initially he couldn't come up with anything, so we told him we'd just wait and join in a few months and then a miracle happened and he was able to get us a 2BR at OKW. Once I saw the amount of work that was going on and noticed that we were the only ones assigned to that building, I realized it may not have been that big of a miracle! All in all, it wasn't that big of a deal though.....we still had a great trip.

We were at Vero early April and though they were painting, it really did not affect us at all. It's mainly daytime and we were at the beach/pool....even if relaxing in room, i don't think it's a big deal....we were in building 15 on the third floor with fabulous ocean view....I recommend requesting the third floor for the view and specify ocean view...the first and second floor view is cut off due to the dunes...and there are elevators/luggage carts so it's no big disadvantage to being on 3 and the view is sure worth it

Scootert - We were at Vero this past weekend and came home yesterday. There was evidence of painting but it was minimal. We stayed in Villa number 12 and it had been painted already. I visited all of the buildings and there was no smell and very little evidence of painting so I wouldn't worry about it. If you can, ask for a room on the 3rd floor so you will have a very good chance of getting an ocean view.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone - I feel much better about this. DH has respiratory issues so anything like this can be a big deal for us. I mentioned his medical condition when I made the reservation, so hopefully it shouldn't be a problem. Sounds like the impact is minimal. Thanks again... can't wait to hit the beach!!
