So we know from Disneyland's own website that we're getting at least the following characters in Paint the Night, which HKDL didn't:
1. Peter Pan
2. Rapunzel
3. Anna and Elsa
Which probably means we're having at least 3 new floats - one for each of them!
Now if anyone else has been watching Tokyo Disneyland news over the past half week-ish, a striking similarity might be noticed (http://www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/blog/pr14092503/). Loosely translated, the news is that their Electrical Parade Dreamlights is getting a renewal that will debut on July 9 this year. The important two points are these:
1. There will be a new float based on Tangled, featuring both Rapunzel and Flynn
2. 7 of the existing floats will be renewed, including the pirate ship from Peter Pan (the other 6 are unspecified, but elsewhere, there has been news that it includes the Blue Fairy, Knights of Light, and probably the 4 it's a small world floats) - such that the entire parade will be in LED
Now personally, I think this is a bit too coincidental, and they may be substantially the SAME floats that we're getting in Paint the Night. Possibly, most of the creative team's efforts for the 60th seem to be invested in the Disneyland Forever and the new World of Color show. Paint the Night is mostly copied from HKDL, and I'm guessing they're doing the same thing with these 2 floats, but with respect to TDL - or maybe the other way round; it's quite possible they're original designs for Disneyland too. These are just guesses! It's also possible that they're substantially different, like the MSEP and Dreamlights Tinkerbell floats.
Now what that means, if they ARE the same floats (or substantially similar), is that we may have a sense of what the Tangled float will look like:
What do you guys think?
(Oh, and elsewhere (I think the Disney Parks Blog), we also know that unlike HKDL, we'll be getting the classic Drum unit
)
P.s. I wish we had an Aladdin float in Paint the Night!
