How can you tell how a room is going to look with a certain color from such a tiny color chip?!

Lol! I am one of those annoying people who takes a lot of the chips in the color(s) I am interested in, and then I put them together in one big block and put them on the wall for several days so I can see how they look in different lights!
:guilty: :guilty: ;)
We also have a paint store in Colorado called Guiry's (not sure if it's a national chain or not), but they give out free samples of the colors you are interested in...You can paint a 3 foot square block to get the true color in your room for a test. :cool1:

You can't! The paint never looks the same on the wall! I love the paint color in our house, but I hated it on the chip. I would never have even considered it unless I'd actually seen it in a model home! It's a gamble! I agree with painting a large portion of wall in the prospective color to see if you really like it.

I third it!

Sometimes you just don't know until you see it on the wall. I just painted my bedroom on Monday but have a whole gallon of paint in another color that I tried a spot & didn't like it. It wasn't a bad color, really. Just not the exact color I had in mind.

A lot of the major paint manufacturers make sample pots now. They are great. They cover a 2 foot square area and you can get a better idea of how a color looks. They are inexpensive too, especially if you compare them to a quart of paint.
