I'm starting a new thread on just Paint Buckets because I love the idea and I can't seem to fine any examples of how to decorate them. I think this is the perfect idea for my neices and nephews and I need to get sarted in order to make 18 of them.

Thanks Maggie!

DEFINITELY check 2peas in the peanut gallery!!

I bought my paint can this weekend! (Home Depot $3.17... but I hear they're less at Lowe's and Sherman Williams... under $3.)

feel free to email me for the directions guys, they are kind of long to post here. maggie:D

About 17 years or so ago there was a lady that use to come to this craft show that was just before christmas and she would have paint cans that you could but gifts in and she wrapped them up in holiday gift paper. Is this the same thing your talking about. I just loved giving these as gifts.

I searched using Paint Can and found several. Really cute ideas, perfect for storing small items. I'll have to show my DD's maybe they can do some for their friends for xmas. That would be an inexpensive and fun gift for them to do.

I found the paint cans and they are very cute!

Can you tell me what you would use them for besides placing presents in them or storage?

Deb

Thanks Maggie! Let me know if anyone spots and cute scarecrow can. I have a cute recipe for Scarecrow soup that I would love to give to the teachers

Has anyone tried mailing the bucket? Thought of making the label part of the design. I like to send a care package to college freshman friends. My eyes lit up with the idea of the bucket but wondered if I would have to box it.

I used to send soda bottles through the mail... I don't know if the paint can would be different? Might want to check with your PO... don't know if they'd let you with the handle?? And you'd have to make sure the lid was secure???

Thank you so much for starting this thread! I think it's such a great idea.

I did find a store online that sells the cans at a pretty decent price. I don't know how much they charge for shipping. I have not ordered from them.

only 1.99 for the 32 oz but 6.50 for the shipping..

YIKES!!! Definitely makes my trip to Home Depot worth it. Like I said... Lowes and Sherman Williams have these cans under $3!!!

Opening cans:

We have a can of 'keys' that we no longer even know what they go too -
so I am going to tie them to a ribbon so the reciever of the gift can easily pop the lid off!

DairYou -
I was thinking that iff I use decoupage stuff over the whole thing I could also put a plant in a can for dd's room!

ALSO -
If you go to Home Depot - in the wallpaper Departments you can get samples of borders to use on them! I got a really cute Pooh one for my friends daughters can (that I will fill with toys for christmas!)

What is the recipe for scarecrow soup? That sounds fun.

Patty,

Ahhh... that sounds very cute... or we have an underwater sea decore in our bathroom. That would be cute for a plant there!

Thanks!

Deb

I thought the mummy can would make a great craft idea for my 3rd grade Cub Scouts, but I needed to make it inexpensive. So. . . . I called my local paint store (national chain), explained that I needed them for Cub Scouts and they DONATED them! How awesome is that! Just a thought for those of you out here that are also leaders.

Have a great day!
Brenda

I am thinking of making "welcome aboard " cruise gifts using paint cans, but I could use some decorating ideas. For the kids on the cruise I thought of decorating with Disney stickers or magnets and for the adults something a little more impressive.I have never made thse before so I am not sure what type of decorating things work best. Also what type of adhesive works best for paper or fabric etc.?

All ideas are appreciated!! Thanks
