Please realize I am not a dentist, so I am definitely not an expert! That being said, dh IS a dentist & I've heard of this many times before. Chances are that if the cavities were small, you will not need a root canal. Most likely, the filling material is a little "high" (too much) is causing your teeth to bump against the opposing teeth. This is not unusual & is usually caused because you are so numb when the procedures are first done to tell that something is hitting. The dentist can probably fix it with a minor adjustment - I can't imagine that you would even be charged for this. It's not really a mistake, even if the dentist checked your bite after he completed the filling (which he should have), the numbness can cause you to bite "off" a little bit. On the other hand, if he did not check for this or did not warn you that this is a possibility - hmmm. Sorry you will have to miss some work. My husband usually just tries to "work in" these procedures to keep it convenient for the patient. Your dentist my just be extra busy right now. Good luck!
