My guess is they are holding off until all Covid restrictions are dropped. To the point where the CDC stops wavering and all kids have had the opportunity to get the vaccine(my guess Sept-Oct) and the full capacity blessing is given which at that point I assume whatever they announce is going to be very very bad(expensive) news so the mine as well just wait till after the 50th. My guess November 1st announcement.

The bigger thing is if they go to a paid system how many people will be using it vs the free system. If it reduces the amount of people using FP that will actually help the stand by lines.

But overall they are shorter than many times they were with FP and right now there are not enough shows, parades and other stuff to do to spread crowds out. But the lines consistently move now. FP killed the standby lines. They also need to go back to not all rides on FP.

Of course they're shorter. But that doesn't make them pleasant. Or worth me spending my money to be there for.

And while the rest of that stuff will add capacity, the parks are still limiting attendance. So that will go up at the same time they add back the other stuff. No way to know how it will pan out.

All these reasons are why I think it will be after the 50th. It will be horrible PR to have the main story being about how much it costs to goto disney and all the things they have taken away 30-60 days before one of their largest events and celebrations in history.

I agree is coming but not at the expense of guests coming for the 50th. There are a lot of people coming that feel that they are already paying too much and not getting enough (perks - ie: fireworks and parades). Disney certainly doesn't want to add to this by saying "here, you can pay even more for something that used to be free". The pay option is coming but Disney already has its hands full preparing for Oct 1st - no need to add a huge issue to it's plate.

I 100% agree. I think it could easily be August. But the other reasons to delay this announcement are probably more valid and reason to hold off. Why sabotage your own event with bad PR? The moment they announce the changes the only story around is going to be what it costs to take a family to disney and how outrageous it is. It happens every year they boost ticket prices and that is a $10-20 hike. We are talking about thousands in some cases if they remove AP's and create this "pay-to-have fun and save time" class dynamic.

I do hope Disney is considering children under 12 with their policies (and thus far, it seems they have - considering they haven't followed suit with Universal's no masks indoor policy). In any case - I wonder if it will be even further down the road towards the end of the 50th celebration? But I agree, until all of the park is re-open (a lot of things are still closed, but that is slowly changing) and the pandemic changes are over - I don't know if it makes sense for Disney to change anything for now. I also suspect like others have mentioned the IT portion isn't ready yet (Disney Genie) - we'll start hearing more about the changes as they roll out the Disney Genie app to test.

I do think capacity wise though - Disney is close to pre-covid capacity. They still may be limiting capacity on holidays, but overall I think capacity is close to a normal pre-covid day. 35% is what they were at before Chapek said earlier this month they had already increased capacity and an average day at most parks was around 35% capacity. The surge in demand from post-covid travel is probably making it look worse with no park pass availability for most of June already for ticket holders and resort guests.

I think Disney sees that despite taking things away parks are still at capacity. Disney has been shifting to finding creative ways for guests to spend money (and receive less) even before COVID (kick everyone out at 6 for Halloween/Christmas parties; block off prime Halloween parades/fireworks views for dessert parties etc).

I think people are giving Disney a covid pass at the moment. If the extras don't return within the year, then I doubt that I'm the only AP holder that will not renew. I will not pay for FP+ at any price. If FP+ are only available as a paid option that definitely reduces the value of the AP even further than the current reservation restrictions.

Disney is the last major Florida park requiring masks indoors for all as is. CDC is just guidelines of which even Disney has cherry picked from. More than likely when Demings drops his non enforceable pony show of a mask mandate Disney will follow. They meet the threshold to do so so it should be soon and that drop will be for all vaccinated and non.

Masks will be gone and full capacity soon. What comes with FP who knows. APs will be back.

We have gladly paid for maxpass at Disneyland with parkhoppers every day for a 6 day trip. We are not there all day, do not rope drop. You can move between the parks quickly, the value for this price is awesome.

The price being quoted as possible for a lightning pass at Disneyworld, yah I am not going to pay that. It takes much longer to parkhop Disneyworld, Universal is much easier as well. We can afford to pay the cost but at this point there is absolutely no way I will. We spend 2 days at Universal at the most, only one day utilizing the Express pass because the park is hoppable. We wander the other day for the immersion, Harry Potter etc and shop, park hopping being simple once again.

We are probably the exact group Disney wants in the parks when everyone relates it to income, spending. This may very well be something that will keep us from planning Disneyworld in the future. It will all depend on if the reviews point to it diminishing my guest experience if it comes true.
