I have maintained the paid AOl in my household since my DH can't seem to get it that you can use IE as your internet provider and use AOL mail anyway. It was worth the $5.99 then $11.99 not to argue.
Last night at 11PM (Sunday night), all my email accounts got this increase notice. Needless to say I was on chat with a rep arguing that I don't need all these services. I don't use McAfee, I don't use Sprint, I don't use LifeLock. The only reason I kept AOL is for ease of internet logon for DH, and possible dialup while at DisneyWorld. After arguing, I changed my plan to $6.99 support & security plan with 5 minutes of dialup per month.
I will do this while I wean DH off of using AOL to get into the internet.
Dear Valued Member,
We are happy to tell you that your AOL plan is about to get even better! On October 1, 2011, you will be upgraded to the new AOL Advantage Premium plan. This plan offers unparalleled support and protection for just $14.95 a month.1
With the AOL Advantage Premium plan, you can take advantage of valuable new benefits like up to $750 per year of extended computer protection2 and a great discount on Sprint that can save you $84 per year on average on select Sprint monthly service plans.4 You are also eligible for comprehensive identity theft protection from LifeLock (valued at $110 a year)3 and receive 5 GB of Norton online backup to protect your most important files and favorite pictures.
The AOL Advantage Premium plan is a great value, saving you approximately $35 per month if you were to purchase these premium services separately:
