Paging Dr. Mom - Off topic

I'm just remembering that my DS (now 8) had this the summer he was 6. We took him to the ER, and we were about to buy him a pair of crutches and we had no idea where this had come from! He was running a very high fever a few weeks before that, and we had even done a swine flu test on him at that time because it came on so suddenly (remember that scare)?

He was fine two days later.

How is she doing now? I know it's scary to see her like that!

Thanks for all the suggestions and concern, we were a little freaked out. Her normal dr ran a blood draw just to rule out anything serious, all clear there. She still has a cold and refuses to walk. We tried warm baths and motrin. This is day four, so this should be near the end.

So scary!

My nephew (7) is just getting over something similar. He came down with an illness last Tuesday - missed school Wednesday/Thursday, went to Dr. on Thursday (they were out of school on Friday) - said he had an ear infection and started antibiotics. By Saturday, still not feeling right and started complaining of leg pain. He couldn't walk properly at all. He just wanted to lay in bed but not necessarily sleep. Missed school again Monday. He finally seemed to start acting like himself again yesterday - so about a week in total.

He is normally very active and rambunctious - it was obvious to everyone that he wasn't feeling well. I'm certain he had the flu or some other viral infection (as the antibiotics didn't seem to help him at all - and the "ear infection" was likely from long-term issues he has with his ears).

I'm glad someone posted this because we are going throught this in our home right now! My dd12 was sent home from school Tuesday morning because she was sick and ended up having a fever when she got to the nurse. She went to the doctor on Wed and she put her on antibiotics. This is such a BAD virus my dd has. She was in bed for 3 whole days. Yesterday she complained her calves hurt, and today (Saturday) she can barely walk. Her fever is gone and she's feeling better, just weak and painful calves.

Thanks for all the quick replies! I am relieved to hear that others have at least heard of/experienced this. Scary story about the staph infection - wow!

She is resting on the couch with hot cocoa. Hopefully this too shall pass - albeit quickly!

Gosh I went through a bout of "growing pains" with two of my kids. The one is a tip toe'er, She was in to ballet for awhile, once a week half hr lesson. Nothing dedicated. Just for fun.

But until she was 12 it was an issue. Now because of life of tip toe, she has real arch and instep problems. Really can not do Lancaster area, Knoboles, or walking the Dis parks. Lots of rest, or she sits on my Rollator and I give her a lift out.

I would watch to any further incidents as this virus passes , Motrin seems to be the best to help as an anti inflammatory with my own kids,

I hope it resolves, growing pain are not pleasant. :flower3:
