How do the pagers work for the OC? Do we keep the same pagers for the whole trip? Do you get to keep the same pager if you check kids in & out during the day? I read somewhere that they run out of pagers. Do you need to check them in early? Do they really work if you are off the boat on an excursion?

Thanks in advance for helping a slightly nervous Mom. ::MickeyMo :boat:

The very first time that you register your child with the clubs, you will be given a pager that you keep for the entire stay. It doesn't matter how many times you check them in and out, you keep the same pager until the last night of the cruise ( I think all pagers have to be returned around 11pm-12mn.) They did mention that you probably will not be able to receive pages if you go off the ship, but they do work on CC (while the kids and CM's are off the ship too). Our daughter was 6 when we went. She stayed in the clubs while in Nassau and we went ashore for about 1 1/2 hours. I did think about her alot, since I wouldn't be able to receive a page if something was wrong. When I got back on the ship, I peeked in on her and she was fine. On CC, she was in the club area ashore while DH and I were on the family beach for about 2-3 hours. After lunch, she had them page us because she wanted to be with us (my guess is that she wanted to go swimming). We got her and spent the rest of the day together. I totally understand your reservations about leaving the ship. maybe you can do it in short spurts, during activities that you're sure your child will be totally engrossed in while you're gone. Good luck.

They do mention that they may not work off the ship, but I know for a fact that when we cruised the Wonder in April - I had to take my sister to the emergency room in Nassau and I was paged several times (of course I told them that I was leaving in an ambulance and would be at the hospital and could not answer pages). Fortunately - Disney sent a representative with me - it was Brent from Guest Services - and he was a Godsend - he had a 2way radio back to the ship and stayed with me the whole time I was at the ER (which was from approx 1 pm to 10:15 pm - till I had to race to the ship to get back before it left!). I do know that his 2 way radio didn't work inside the hospital and he had to walk away from the hospital to get thru. He was able to call the kids club and find out what the problem was.

I can't believe they stayed with you that long. How nice.

I think I'll talk to the other couple going w/ us. Instead of doing any long excursions together, maybe we'll do them separately. It will give us some alone time & make sure that one set of parents can be on the boat if something happens. Hopefully there's something each couple can sign, that says if the one set of parents is unavailable that they can page the other set. For security, this may not work with Disney, but since our 3/12 & 4 yr olds will be together, we can at least go to the OC regularly & check on each other's kids.

I don't know if they would page the other couple, but when you register your children there is a spot to fill out that is for other people you will allow to take your child out of the Club. All you need to do is let them know your password you've chosen. We did a 3night Halloween cruise this year and I wrote down all the family members we were traveling with, just in case. Also, since we had 2 families with kids we agreed on one password. It made it easier to remember for other family members. I'm not sure that they would page anyone else though -- we never asked.

Your kids will have a great time! Our DS was almost 4 and just had a ball. Next time I would let him do more of the activities -- but we wanted some family time too!

We were on th Nov 1 Magic and I gave my sister and brother in law permission to pick up the kids or to be paged in an emergency. Our kids had permission to sign themselves in and out. But if something was to happen any adult in our party was able to take care of any of the kids.

I love these boards. You guys always have such great advice. The one password is a great idea for both couples.

Thanks! ::MickeyMo :boat:
