Last trip I rented a powerchair for me rather than bring my own (flew with manual)but planning return trip and to maximise my sons freedom rather power than just his manual(we have both at home)

Is there anywhere that hires paedtric chairs (12 bt 12 inch size)or am I best looking at chargers for abroad and bringing his as were coming from uk

You will most likely not find anyone that will rent a power chair for a child to use.

The most common size is at least 16 inches wide.

A few years ago when we tried to rent a 14 inch wide one we could not find one that was less than that.

Thank you

As he has primordial dwarfism amongst other condtions he be lost in anything bigger and no postural. Will look into how to sort the voltage issuers with chargers snx bring his own.I presume wdw have no problem with a child using one

No, they won't have any issue with a child during their own power wheelchair.

On our last trip, I saw some children who could not have been more than 6 years old using their own power wheelchairs.

One of the issues we had with trying to rent one for our daughter (besides size) was that she would not be able to use her specialized seating in a rental wheelchair. We have not brought her power wheelchair to Florida because of fears it could get broken in transport and also knowing she does not have the stamina to drive it in crowded conditions for more than a couple of hours. It is too difficult to put in push mode (too heavy) and too difficult for us to drive it from the side for very long.

It might be worth contacting the maker of your son's powerchair. The company's website should have contact information for people in the UK.

I know, for example, that Pride does have chargers that allow users to travel to the UK and not have to worry about changing voltage. I'm sure they can do the same in reverse. It's not something you'd ever get told is an option when purchasing, but it exists. I don't know how expensive they are and I don't know if every manufacturer has them. It doesn't hurt to ask, though :)
