Has any one used those space saving storage bags; the ones that you put your clothes in, zipper shut, then roll them and all the air comes out. How well did they work? Was your stuff all wrinkled when you took it out? Finally, are they worth buying? :confused3

I just roll my clothes up (instead of folding) (without the bags) and I'm always amazed at how well they come out. 100% cotton will still need touching up, but most of my stuff can just hang in the bathroom during a shower and then look fine.

Two gallon Zip lock bags do the same thing and are cheeper. We usually only put our "undies" in them so we really don't care if they are wrinkled or not.

They really do help you save space - BUT be careful if you are flying - they do make it easier to get to and exceed the 50lb limit most airlines now have for luggage.

after years of much traveling with children, I have developed a system that seems to work well for our family of 5. I pack everybody's underwear in gallon size ziploc baggies...that way everyone has their own bag. Then, I fold clean clothes, and roll dirty ones, that way when I get home I know what's clean and what's dirty. When we cruise, I send everything out to be pressed as soon as we get our luggage. It is a splurge, but one well worth it in my opinion.

I haven't used the ones that don't require a vacuum, but it's pretty much the same. Yes, clothes will definitely wrinkle- it basically mashes your stuff to get the air out and then holds it there till you open it again. I wouldn't spend the money- you could just shove everything in a garbage bag and sit on it- then spend the money you saved to have Disney press the clothes ;)

I use a variation of this since I'm a little OCD with the packing. I'm putting single outfits in ziploc bags (underwear & socks too) and folding them oh-so-perfectly to reduce wrinkling, then gently squeezing out the air so it doesn't slide around. Meanwhile, my husband walks past and gives me a sideways glance- but he knows he'll enjoy his "underwear singles" when the time comes. :teeth:

I got some of those bags but they didn't work well for me. I use the small & gallon sized zip lock bags to put a complete outfit in for the kids. I do that to help them get dressed wearing the right matches as well as to help DH when he has that task for the morning. :) If I didn't split things up like that they would end up with mismatched outfits for the last few days of the cruise. It does make it ALOT easier to unpack on the ship too. DD's bags go on one shelf while DS's go on another.

We used the 2 gal size for Undies, socks, bras and bathing suits. Just sit on them and squish them real good and zip up!

For shirts, I simply lay them on top of each other. Then I either roll them or fold them.

We got them to go to Vegas/CA/NV - they were fantastic - we were able to pack TONS of stuff. LOVED THEM - that was until it was time to come home -and we COULDN'T find a vacuum to redo it!
so we had to shuffle and shove and cram - :::Rolls Eyes:::

Won't be doing that again!
