Packing with Space Bags

It must be me, but when I've used the space bags, the clothes appears to weigh heavier... :)

They are great, especially for the trip back home. You can put stinky and wet clothes in them until you can wash them.

You are pressing all the air out of the bag thus compressing it like a brick this is why it feels heavier.

I've used the space bags for trips and while they do allow you to fit a lot of stuff, my issue is that if you're planning to put 2 compressed bags in your suitcase, the bags are so "hard" that they won't mold to each other the way 2 ziplocs bags or just a stack of clothes would.

What I tend to do nowadays is just have one compressed space bag per suitcase and then put other soft stuff on top and below it. But not trying to put 2 bags in the same suitcase...

Like a previous poster said. You can buy air mattress pumps that are pretty small. They both suck and blow. :lmao:
I recommend the Ozark brand because the Coleman is SUPER loud.

Great question, I was thinking of this, too! Not only will we need sweatshirts and "layering" clothing, but I also want to bring my own pillow which certainly doesn't weigh a lot, but will add space to my suitcase! I'm not sure it'll fit in a bag, though...

You can take your pillow and it doesn't count as a carry-on, or at least you used to be able to. Maybe check your airline's website....

Oh that is great to know, thanks! We'll have enough carry-on stuff anyway with a toddler and all her stuff as well as ours :), but if it doesn't fit in my suitcase, that's a great idea!! Thank you!

I've been using space bags for years, and I love them. I won't travel without them. I have never had an issue of going over 50 pounds. I've done 1 days outfit in each bag, and I've also done shirts in one, pants in another, etc. Well worth the money!

I bought some space travel bags at bed, bath and beyond. But when I tried using them, each of them broke. I didn't overstuff them either. Trying to close each one had a problem with the zipper closer thing and the broke or came off the bag. So, I took them back and got my money back! I just use the giant and large size ziploc(or generic ones) bags and they work great, and they are cheaper and you can find them anywhere! I fill the bags, put them on the kitchen table and lay on top of them, (in a few weeks I may try sitting on them to see if I can get even more air out, which I think someone else mentioned), pushing the air out, then quick zip them. Then I lay on top again, unzip a couple inches and 'burp' out any excess air, then rezip and pack them! Pretty easy and even fun to see how flat I can get them and how well I can pack! :goodvibes
