Hi,
I went to DL last april and I got a totally great idea on packing. So it is like you are packing and do want to match clothes for you or your children well I have a great idea. Before leaving home wheen packing you could pack the clothes in gallon zip lock bags. Have a sharpie of each color for your family member to write his/her name on the zip lock bag (or you can do it for them!) And then you will not have to match in the park.. HEre is an example;
-Underware
-Blue Bike shorts
-Mickey T-sHirt
for a child

Some jeans wont fit same with sweat shirts and things like that but it is a lot easier this way. And then you can also just throw them into your drawers. Also put your toiltry's and stuff like that in them to then you won't have to go searching. Also this is easier if you are going on a plane and they search your bag everything will be together and if it spills when they open it then it will be easy to put back in there. Also count how many bags you have in your suit case before and after you leave so you know you don't forget anything! :paw:

This is a great idea. We have been doing this for the last 10 years. It works well, everyone can just grab a bag. They make large bags now which is helpful as the kids grow or for warmer weather clothes.

I was just at WalMart and they now have ziplock bags in XL and XXL, so you probably could pack the jeans and sweatshirts together :cool1:
They are a bit expensive- $5 something for 5XL bags or 3XXL bags. I haven't decided if I'm investing yet, but I am a firm believer in packing in bags. (Did you know if you sit on the bag and then close it, it's like a vacuum sealed bag and you can pack twice as much in your suitcase? :rotfl2:
Seriously, I am only packing clothes for three days, for my next six night/seven day trip!

I'm a ziplock packer, too...it really works for me. I'm leaving on a trip next week and have already packed my bag. I have so much room left in the suitcase...it's great!

I have been searching everywhere for those new large sizes of ziplocks but can't find them anywhere yet. I wish our WM would hurry up and stock some.

A few years ago I bought a rolling duffle bag. They hold lots of clothes but I kept losing things in the bottom of the bag, like socks and underwear. Near the end of the trip I would think "I'm sure I packed more dark socks but where are they?" Well, I would find them when I got home and unpacked. So I started using the ziplock bags for things like that. I pack dark socks in one bag, white socks in another, underwear in another, etc. Now all my little things don't fall to the bottom of the bag and get lost under all my other clothes. And on those trips where we opt to unpack, it's quicker and easier to unpack socks and undies when they are all in bags. Just toss the bags in the drawer!

I've been doing that for a few years now. Works great for me. Kinda like chinese menu packing. Grab undies from bag A, socks from bag B, etc.
And I also bring along a few extra ziplocs to put the dirty stuff in. Also helps if you're flying and you put your clothing in your carry-on and your bag gets searched. Usually the friendly TSA agents will just squish the bag around a little to make sure there's nothing else in there and not have to rifle through your underware.

I also try to pack so that just about everything will match just about everything else. (Which isn't hard since most of my wardrobe is just variations on a simple theme.) But, it also means I can pack things in piles by type (t-shirts, polo shirts, pants) in my big duffle bag and then just grab whatever's on the top of the pile and be good to go.

My wife starting us on this several trips ago...let me tell you...it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Each of my girls have a bag labled with their name and day of the week. All they do is find their bag for that day and put it on. No muss or fuss.

They picked out those outfits for that "day" weeks ago...makes it soooo much faster getting out of the hotel and into the park in the morning.

I have bought bags for our trip to do this, this will be the first time I've tried this. I was wondering do the clothes not get real wrinkled in the ziplocs??

Amount of wrinkles depends on the clothes and how they're packed. In general, clothes in the ziploc bags will get less wrinkled than if they're not in bags. But, that's only if the items are folded and laid flat in the bags and the bags are laid flat in the suit case. If you toss something in a bag, overpack a ziploc or jam a bag into a corner of your pack, you're going to end up with wrinkles. But, packing things in bags can keep things lying flatter and staying more or less in order, so you get fewer wrinkles.

That is a great idea!

I have been doing this for the last couple of years and it works great. Also use the bags for my toiletries to keep items together and protect against any spillages. The bags are great afterward for the dirty clothes.

Walmart carries a 2-gallon Hefty ziploc bag. I have found they hold jeans and heaver clothing, even my husbands stuff! We love the ziploc bag idea...
