i was planning on packing the spray-on sunscreen into luggage and checking in the luggage.. is this safe ?? i just read the bottles i bought and it says danger .. under pressure ??? i guess like all spray cans .. do not put near extreme heat and pressure.... so my question .. is it safe to pack this type of sunscreen into our luggage and check this in at the airport ? has anyone ever done this ??
(hope its not a silly question!)
thanks !

I think this would be similar to hairspray & other similar products under pressure. I have packed those in my checked bags & I don't recall having a problem. I would put it in a ziploc bag just in case the spray button got "pushed" by something else or in case of a problem, but I always pack liquids in ziplocs bag - just in case. I have had problems with shampoo or conditioner. It leaked inside DHs shoe:confused3 - what a mess!

Good luck!

Because I am a fuss budget, I would put spray sunscreen inside two ziploc bags if I were putting it in checked luggage.

The PP is correct. As long as you put the sunscreeen in a ziploc bag, and make sure it isn't lined up to spray, you should be good to go. You can even buy a new bottle before you do, and don't take off the protective wrapping. That will give you extra security. But, remember to bring a ziploc bag so you can bring it back home in your checked baggage.

Have a wonderful trip!!

thanks for all the replies .. I knew I could get answers from you at these disboards.. its just that when I just read the label with the danger sign .. and I know I have never read anything about NOT taking certain types of bottles in packed luggage... but I wanted to be safe and ask...

Never had a problem. I do double ziplock bag it though. And if it does explode, I figure I can just buy a can there.

We only use 1 can for a week because I bring regular sunscreen too and that's what DD and I use.

definately use a ziploc bag. Last year my mother packed aerosol hairspray in her checked bag. My DD helped her unpack and gave her the can. She found that a lot was missing. She just figured that she brought the wrong can. Then we smelled the suitcase and knew what happened.

I routinely take between 10-15 cans for our beach trips. I always take new, sealed cans only and it's never a problem.

If we have any left over coming home I'l wrap them in plastic and a paper towel and put that inside a ziploc, but we seldom have any left to bring home. (Remember that Florida sun is quite strong, and the recommendation is that an adult use 1 oz. of sunscreen per application for proper coverage. Standard-size cans are 6 oz.)

We ship alot of our supplies to the resort and we put the sunscreen in a ziploc baggie in the box we are shipping. We have never had any problems.
