OK, this is the first trip to the world when we will not be renting a car and our problem is we would like to take a few small bottles of spirits (cherry vodka, malibu rum, baileys) with us. I plan to wrap them in bubble wrap and pack them in our checked luggage. I have read that others have done this but with all the laws for air travel I wanted to be sure to do it the best way.

I am still up in the air about this and wonder if getting a cab for a quick ride to the local grocery stop after we arrive would be better. We are staying at the Beach Club and do not know of any local stores.

Any help would be appreciated.

On our last trip we brought alcohol down, just wrapped it up and packed it into our checked baggage. We did not have any problems at all.

We had WEGOSHOP pick up some groceries, bottled water, etc. and beer and drop off to our room for a small fee.

We have packed bottles of alcohol in our luggage with no problem. Wrap them in bubble wrap and cushion them in the clothing in your suitcase.:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone!!!

I called TSA and they also confirmed bubble wrapping of bottles is allowed in checked-in luggage and actually told me how to do it correctly. Also you can carry-on small bottles less than 3 oz. but you can not drink them while on the plane!!! I am just afraid with the mishandling of the bags nowadays that a bottle or two may break. They told me to bubble wrap them and put it a large Ziploc to be safe.

Also, I have read that I can ship some down to the resort with my other items. I know there are laws against shipping alcohol but since you are shipping it to yourself not to someone else, the laws are a little relaxed. However, you can only do this with FedEx or UPS, not USPS.

Still hesitant with both but we come a conclusion!!!!!

Thanks again.

One suggestion with bottles in bubble wrap (which we have done many times)

Take the wrapped bottle(s) and put them all inside a heavy duty plastic bag. Then if they leak its mostly contained and not all over your clothes
