Am I the only one who packs so early? We will be leaving the 13th of April, and I've already started packing! I took the summer clothes out of the closet today and ran them through the washer and packed most of them. Also made my "mousekeeping" envelopes and packed those. Now that I've started I'm afraid I'll be throwing something in every day till we leave and we'll end up with more than we need. (I'll try to control myself) What do you pack this early?

I usually pack on paper (very very detailed)about four months out. Then I fill the guest bedroom full of suitcases one month out and start checking off the list and filling up the suitcases. My family says I have vacationitis! They may laugh and make fun but we rarely forget anything! I also take food and a small microwave when we go so the dining room gets crowded too!

Keep packing and have a good trip!

I pack our "joint" stuff suitcase about a month in advance. I collect stuff months ahead of time too and store it in a designated area. I don't do the clothes suitcases until the weekend prior to going (which is only two weeks away!! :D  :D ), however, I have washed all the shorts, and swimsuits etc... and pulled stuff out to make sure I can still fit into them etc. ahead of time.

The real disease is the list making! I have it bad. It is not just Disney stuff and planning - I am a list maker big time! I have a detailed check off list for the packing process. The good news is - I almost never forget the important stuff. The rest is easy - just buy it when you get there!

Don't worry - you are not alone, we are leaving on April 8th and I started packing a week ago! My kids and hubby think I'm a little premature but I decided if I start now chances are I won't forget anything! You can never plan too far ahead, right? :D

WE LEAVE THE 13TH OF APRIL ALSO AND WE HAVE BEGUN TO PACK THINGS OTHER THAN CLOTHES AND WILL PACK THM ARUND THE FIRST AFTER WE GO THRU OUR LIST WE HAVE BEEN PREPARING BY LOOKING AT THESE BOARDS!! :D

I admit it, I do it, too. I already have outfits planned for our *December* trip! That's not obsessive, is it? :)

OK, I must be really strange - I pack the night before leaving! (of course, no kids so that makes it easier)

I am packed about 1 month in advance - sometimes earlier. I got back last tuesday and as soon as the stuff was washed it was repacked for my trip at the end of the month. Can't help it. I am a compulsive planner. What is worse is that my clothes have been ironed at least 3 times before I end up wearing them. Once after they are washed, again when I am assembling things and the last time when they are packed. I am surprised they do not stand by themselved from the starch..

I'm leaving from MA on the same day... April 13th!!! I'm so EXCITED!!! I've been thinking about starting to pack... or at least starting to make up a packing list! 27 MORE DAYS!!!

Humm! Wouldn't you save yourself alot of time by eleminating some of that needless ironing and iron your cloths "once" right before you pack them? Personally, I hate to iron, so it's wrinkled when it comes out of the dryer it does not go with us. I also make good use of the resport irons and I also pack a little steamer.
As for packing...I am with the rest of you on that one. I pack way ahead of time. Our suit cases ususally sit on our dinning room table and for over a month I put thinks in here and there.

I don't know if I pack. I just lay the suitcase out and start throwing things into it as I remember them for weeks. Then anything I THINK I might want to take ends up in or near the suitcase. This helps me to not forget things. Then about a week before our trip I empty everything out and start going through everything.

Last year we went in August and September so after washing, I just put everything back in to the suitcase.

I have to make my lists a couple of months in advance. (I'm packing for me and 3 kids. DH packs himself.) That way, I can figure out if I need to purchase anything.

I also start packing the suitcases early, too. Probably about 2 weeks ahead of time. My DH drives me crazy because he's the type who's packing the night before. He packs so quickly!
(I wish I could be more like that.)

If they had an organization for Overpackers, I'd definitely belong to it! However, I'm usually prepared for just about any situation!

:)

My husband would sign me up! He gripes about my overpacking, I defend with my perfect track record of "not forgetting something". I also start piling items in a designated location up to 2 months ahead of time, With 2 daughters I have a hard time controlling myself-too many cute outfits and shoes (this year's vice for sure!).

that I am not alone. We are going in July and since January I have been picking up needed stuff as I see it and putting it in our "Disney Box". I also picked out the clothes I intend to wear and moved them to another closet as well as planning what to wear each day of the trip to make sure I am not overpacking. My Dh thinks I'm a little crazy but hey in sunlotion alone I saved us 10.00 by picking up sale lotion right before the ""Spring" season items were put up in the stores.

Plus its fun to plan all things Disney!!
:)

We are leaving mid August and my 9 & 10 year old have decided it's time to get packing! They got up real early this morning (of course they did they didn't have school) and headed to the attic and pulled all our luggage out. They said they'd need their gameboy's and all their board games and every book they own! There are lots and lots of lil things packed now too. We have 2 complete luggage sets, 8 pieces total I belive and all are ready to go and no clothes are packed yet. Course the Playstation and N64 will wait until closer to the time to be packed, but they are willing to pull the Gameboy's out each time they want to play and will pack them away once they are done with them. I think they are just a lil bit excited.

Personally though I'm exactly like MaryT. I will be packing the night before it's time to leave and rushing around saying, I know I will forget something!
