Hi everyone,

Leaving on Tuesday yay!!!! Should i pack my netbook in my carry on bag or in my suitcase?? I didnt really want to pack it in my carry on bag but apparently security might open my case if its packed in there??
Thanks xx

You don't have an option - you will have to have it in your carry-on bag. I took a full sized laptop in laptop backpack and it was honestly no hassle at all. I didn't take anything else with except cameras and documents and a book so I was still well under the 6kg weight.

Personally, even if permitted, I would never put a laptop or netbook in hold luggage.

We always take out netbooks and laptops in our carry on, don't want to risk it getting lost if the case goes missing.

Don't let it out of your sight, hand luggage for anything of value.

Apart from the reasons already mentioned, it's worth looking outside the plane window if you ever get the opportunity when they're loading/unloading luggage - once you've witnessed that there's no way you'd consider putting anything remotely fragile through the hold ever again :lmao:

Just look on Youtube, loads of clips on there, search "luggage handlers"

Oh yes! I have had a forklift (or whatever they used) through my bag before. Picture the carousel at Philadelphia with me watching my knickers appearing independently from the wrecked case which followed (what seemed like) ages afterwards ..... :rolleyes1:

Thanks everyone, hand luggage it is then!! :-) xx

:thumbsup2 Good idea! A netbook is smaller and lighter than a laptop. Besides, you have to take it out for screening at security.

ok now i have Dr pepper coming out of my nose i laughed so hard. :rotfl:

wouldnt even dream of putting it into my luggage bag, aside from worries of it going walkies, there is also the danger of it getting dented. I once had the lid of a Jager bottle dented so badly you couldnt open the bottle, and that was wrapped in 3 shirts.

Jansport make some rucksacks small enough for carry on that have laptop compartments. they also look like normal rucksacks which is a big plus.

It took a while to realise that the familiarity of the garments were a bit much to be coincidence. There were other things too, just the underwear grabbed my attention. I didn't go round picking them up though. :rolleyes1

The point is, if this can happen to small, cheap items, it is a caution for packing anything fragile or of value into your checked luggage. I think the OP got the point though. :)

Barmybella, as mentioned, a laptop/netbook backpack is great. It gives a secure place for the laptop and many have additional handy storage space so you have one bag and two free hands.

Enjoy your trip you lucky thing! :goodvibes
