Were you aware you can no longer pack spare Lithium batteries in your checked luggage. It must be in your checked luggage and be in the original package. I just found that on my airline's web site. I carry extra lithiums for my camera and have always just put 2 spares in a baggie. No more I guess. Glad I found it now.

Thanks for this info! I didn't know this either.

Flew last week. No batteries allowed in checked luggage. In carry-on, Li batteries either need to be in the device (turned off unless in use), in original packaging, or with electrical tape over the contacts of any loose spare Li batteries. Rare fire hazard which is why they don't want them stowed where a problem would go unnoticed.

Does this apply to all batteries or just lithium batteries? And, this may sound stupid, but how do I know which ones are lithium? Are my AA rechargables going to be ok in luggage (checked or carry-on?) or not?

I had no idea. I packed an opened pack of spare lithium AA in my suitcase on the way home last week. I guess TSA didn't find em.

It will tell you on the package that they are lithium..and I wouldn't put any batteries in my checked luggage..

thanks for the info, i had no idea, and those are THE only batteries i will use, so i need them!! i'd hate to lose'em
