:confused3 Anyone have a good way to pack liquids now that we cannot carry them on the plane? I mean stuff like Maloxx or shampoos so the won't spill and ruin a whole suitcase full of clothes? Not sure if the gift shops would have stuff like liquid maloxx...can't use the tablets....any ideas??

I always pack liquids like shampoo in my checked baggage. I make sure the caps are on tight, but also place them in ziplock bags to prevent any spillage. I also pack them in the middle of all of my clothes, to cushion them more.

Just make sure your ziplock bags are sealed really well or they go BOOM! :rotfl2: I don't know if I have room for all that this time so I think I'll just buy what I need when I get there. Have FUN! Helen

Put them in a Ziploc bag, or any type of durable plastic bag. We have a huge suitcase for checked luggage that has a heavy-duty plastic bag for all liquids.

Thanks.... I'll give the zippie bags a try...what would we do without those things?????? :rotfl: :rotfl:

Definitely in a ziploc baggie, but you should also pay attention to where in the suitcase you put it. As mentioned, sandwich it between cushy clothing, or also tuck it into a spare shoe to give it extra crush protection. Try to keep it away from the edges of your case.

We also throw in a half box of extra gallon bags for while we're there and for the way home. They come in SO handy.

I always use two ziploc bags (put things into one, seal it, then put the entire bag in another ziploc and seal that one). Have never had a problem.

As another poster said, pack them in the middle of "squishy" things, like clothing, not by harder items.

Make sure you don't pack bottles that are completely full to the top; leave a little empty space at the top of the bottle, to compensate for air pressure changes.

I was thinking about packing all liquids in a small separate tote bag and checking this in, because I'm afraid if I pack it near clothing there might be leakage. Has anyone done this?

I'd be afraid that the small bag with the liquids would end up on the bottom of a luggage tram with big heavy suitcases thrown on top. I think the ziploc (or double ziploc) technique, buried inside soft cushiony items, is a better approach.

I actually use the freezer type ziplocs (they're thicker and seem more durable) and have never had an issue. I always take my own shampoo and conditioner.

I read somewhere that you should squeeze the bottle a bit before you screw on the top - that allows room for the bottle to expand due to the air pressure changes during the flight.

I always pack a separate toiletry bag - we had problems several times with our huge suitcase exceeding the weight limit, so we now check smaller suitcases and then the toiletry bag - never had anything spilled or broken. I still put bottles in ziplocs.

I do the double zip-lock method, but I also put them in a hard plastic steri-lite container (like the kind with the snap lids and handle from Wal-Mart). The plastic holds up to the torture and even if the containers leak and the two bags leak, they leak into the plastic container. But just to make extra sure, I also pack clothes in 2 gallon zip-locks (which also makes it easy for them to search bags).

Wow...I'm more paranoid than I thought!

I put my bottles in ziplock bags, too. No problems here, even on a 7 hour flight to the UK. I usually bring travel sized bottles, which are lighter, and there's less to leak, too!

actually the most up to date info is:
Travel size liquids, aeresols etc can be taken on board as long as they are approximately 3 ounces or less, and sealed in a one quart ziploc type bag. It will need to be run seperately through the x-ray.
For those of you who like to keep these items with you (and they are travel sized).......you'll be all set!

I have a Pelican Box that I got for my snorkeling mask. It's pretty much indistructable - they even show a car on one in an ad I saw - and it's watertight. That's what I put my liquids in if I'm checking them (and not taking my snorkle gear).

That said, I am SO happy the restrictions have been lifted. I almost never check my bag!

I put our liquid toiletries in ziploc bags and then I put them into a rubbermaid sealed container, the one about the size of a shoe box... just in case. And then put it in our suitcase and check it.

I do the zip lock bag but I also tape all the flip top lids closed. They tend to pop open sometimes. I guess due to the pressure on the airplane.

I'm also a ziploc bag-flip-top-taper :)

Nothing leaked or broke flying there or back home :thumbsup2
