Okay - I live in Florida and we go to Disney every year (usually in October - this year too). The weather is still quite warm, wear shorts and tee-shirts. Occasionally and when I say occasionally I mean once every 4-5 years we do get a cool snap. I don't know where you are from, but you might not actually even consider it a cool snap???
Here's what we (family of 4) take for a week and I wash once (we stay in our RV at Fort Wilderness): 4-5 pairs of shorts and tee-shirts, 1 or 2 pair of jeans, 1 long sleeved shirt (light weight like a henley) and a light jacket or sweater.
Do remember to take a rain jacket or poncho for everyone. While October is not a particularly rainy month, you don't want to have to buy ponchos for everyone at Disney - you'll spend three times as much. We actually buy el-cheapo ponchos at Walmart before we go, use 'em during the trip and trash 'em when we leave. We actually met a family as we were leaving last time and gave 'em our ponchos.
19 days and 23 hours 'til we're back at Fort Wilderness and WDW!!
We've gone twice in October and both times it was hot and humids. You should be fine to just bring shorts and t shirts. I'd skip the long pants and long sleeve shirts. The first October we went it was dry the whole time. Last year, it rained every day of our trip. We wore our Crocs everyday and we're glad we did.
Shorts and t-shirts even after the sun sets? If we are out at the parks all day, would just a light sweater or jacket over the shorts and t-shirt be sufficient at night, or would you recommend to bring lightweight pants and long sleeve for little ones?
This is my biggest packing dilemma for Oct, so any input would be appreciated!
We have gone in October 5 or 6 times, going this year too, and I plan on packing one pair of pants for everyone and a lightweight sweatshirt or jacket. It does sometimes cool down at night, and on a couple of trips it was downright cool. We live in Michigan so we know cool. I plan on checking the weather when we are down there to see if we need the pants at night time. If so we can just wear them back after our afternoon break.
Hey me and my family will be there the 1st week of October. We go this week each year because the temperature is great and the rain is light. We live in the mountain areas of Tennessee so right now we are already pulling out jackets. However the weather is perfect in October at WDW. We always go to the water parks and it is still hot. The weather is usually very warm and mild.I suggest packing like you would to go to the beach in July but you want to pack a light jacket and rain poncho. There is usually a mild shower daily that lasts a few moments and then clears right back off.But you know a little rain shower can be cool in the evenings even in 100 degree weather. All in all the weather is usually nice, warm and is actually the most perfect time to go..
Have a good time....Lots of pixie dust your way
After a rainy evening, you may want a sweatshirt or light jacket. This has happened to me at least 3 times during our October trips. I imagine WDW sells a lot of sweatshirts and jackets during those nights. My mom bought jackets for my dd's one year and I was very tempted to buy a sweatshirt, but I couldn't find one I liked enough for the price, so I suffered.
