it's been a long time since i've been in the summer.

should we even bring one pair of jeans or capris? I am in Dallas, so i know how hot/humid it is during the summer. I do get cold in restaurants etc. though with high AC (i have on a sweater now in the office cuz i am freezing!). would we have any need for jeans at all (August 18-23rd). We don't plan to dress up at all on our trip for meals, we will just wear what we have on for our sit down meals.

We always go in July or Aug., and I always seem to pack that one pair of pants for every member of my family that NEVER gets worn!!!

I took one pair of capris for our trip from Aug 21-28 last year. The didn't even come out of the suitcase. Even at midnight, it was still 80-85 degrees. I, too, get cold in the AC after being SO hot but we didn't ever sit anywhere too long and it was a relief for up to an hour or so.

This year we are going Aug 27-Sept3 and I'm not bothering with the long pants.

If you have the room in you suitcase, it doesn't hurt to have them. I know I will be forcing my wife to bring hers. She is always cold, especially places with A/C.

This is going to sound crazy but I don't wear shorts so I only pack capris. We are going August 11th-18th so I hope I don't die of heat stroke. :sunny:

I have never needed jeans. Sometimes the air conditioning is cold, so maybe a light jacket, but then you would need to carry it around with you.

My wife is "cold-natured" and takes a very light jacket for use in the restaurants, but the rest of us find the heat/humidity oppressive and welcome the chance to be in a cool place! :rotfl:

I wouldn't bother with any of that. If anything, I'd bring a light sweater or a light jacket. The stores and restaurants are cold, but as soon as you walk outside, you warm right up. Personally, I'd get annoyed with carrying a jacket around all day. But that's just me. If you think you'll get cold, and you don't mind carrying a jacket around in the parks, then go ahead and bring one.

Even though I was warned, I wasn't prepared for how HOT it was. I was dripping wet everyday and had to change clothes at least once.

I can't imagine wearing pants of any kind and I love Capris but not at WDW in August!!

Wear light weight, light colors tanks/t-shirts and shorts.

If you are worried about looking nice in a restaurant then maybe pack one capri or a sun dress.

Have fun!

That's a good point. I packed tanks for little ones and they'll probably get cold in the air conditioning in restaurants and such.

I will not be packing jeans, but I will be packing a pear of long pants to lounge around the room in. I was freezing in our room last year, but it was swealtering outside

Im not packing long pants for anyone in my family. It will be way hot.. All shorts, tank tops and tshirts with flip flops and a pair of tennis shoes for everyone. I am gonna try and pack some nicer short outfits to wear to our TS dinners..

I don't think you will need any long sleeves, pants or capris....and I don't think you will be cold in the restaurants either, I am usually so cold that I tell my Dr. when I have hot flashes I will be normal. It is so hot and humid down here that (heat index of 102 today) that you will look forward to being in a cold restaurant and by the time you finish your meal you should be cooled down enough to hit the heat again! Jeans especially would be foolish, and I too am another one who doesn't want to drag around a jacket, you will however probably need to tote a poncho or at the very least an umbrella, we have been getting the afternoon rains pretty much on cue the past few weeks, unlike the past few years that have been on and off, it seems like we are in a more "normal" pattern this year.

Don't worry. I don't think a couple of inches of leg fabric will cause you heat stroke. I'm pastey, so I don't often wear shorts either - and I don't like to increase my chances of skin cancer either.

I will probably wear my jean capris on the flight down. Other than that I will just bring one pair of Old Navy "Lounge" pants to wear in the room when DH turns the AC down to frigid. I usually wear a tank top with a light cotton sweater on the plane too, and then I have that with me if I think I will need it for the AC in restaurants etc.

I'll take it one step crazier. I don't wear shorts or capris (and the rest of the world will thank me, I'm sure). I am packing only pants for myself.

I will go to a water park and wear a bathing suit, though, so the rest of the world will just have to avert their eyes that day.

no jeans...no long pants...I brought some down last year but never wore them

May be TMI.....I suggest you bring as many bras as you own. I found I had to change 2 - 3 times a day as they would just get SOAKED. I also brought a bottle of woolite and washed them all every night and hung them to dry over the curtain rod. (also lots of pairs of panties..)

With the opressing heat in august, as soon as you walk outside - even at 7:00 a.m. - you can feel the sweat running down your body...

:wave2: I live in Dallas, and I am bringing a jacket!

I am always freezing in the A/C. I found a lightweight jacket at Target with the workout/active wear that is like a windbreaker. I can fold it small enough to fit in a sandwich bag. With all the other junk we carry it will be a drop in the bucket! I bought a small backpack at Marshall's to carry my stuff, and DH will carry a full size backpack so there will be plenty of room.

I will probably wear a different jacket on the plane, and we will definitely bring a jacket for DS9, too. When we go out to eat around here he always brings a jacket so I know he will want one at WDW. We'll just stick it in a locker if it is too bulky to carry.

It's not TMI...It's a great tip! I wouldn't have thought about it, but I will probably buy a couple of extras (and bring the Woolite).

We went in August of '02,,,and the day we hit Typhoon Lagoon turned overcast...and chilly. I was wrapped in 2 beach towels drinking hot coffee, Now that is me....most others were in the water, and I did venture in, but just goes to show even in August in Orlando you can get a cooler day. Family has a running joke bout it, that I like the weather so warm even Aug. in Fl wasn't warm enough for me. :sunny: I would throw a pair of capris and a sweater or hoodie, whatever is enough to take the chill off, unless you WANT a reason to score a new souvenier sweatshirt... :rolleyes1
