Packing for Aug

We'll be in Disney at the beginning of Aug this year. I haven't been to Florida in August in probably 15 years. We're used to going in Nov, meaning I bring everything along. So, can someone tell me, will I need any jeans or long sleeves at all? Or will this be an easier vacation to pack for? I know I need the ponchos! That I'm familiar with. I'm just wondering if I will need anything warm to wear at all, or just not bother. Thanks!

Hi,

The only time you would need long sleeves is if you get chilly indoors. You certainly will not be chilly outdoors, no matter what time of the day or night you are out!

You'll be fine with no jeans or sleeves. BEsides, if you do get cold, you can always purchase a ridiculously overpriced sweatshirt. You wont need to though! Have fun!

shorts, capris, and some short sleeved shirts should get you by just fine! Definitely remember the ponchos!

When I went in August last year I was slightly chilly during the worst day of Tropical Storm Fay, but that was more to do with the air conditioning hitting my wet poncho! No long sleeves/jeans will be fine :)

Leave the jeans home.I would bring extra tshirts /underwear to change into though, especially if you won't be doing laundry. We changed 2x a day every day.it is so hot and humid the dry stuff feels nice.

I agree. I typically go through 2-3 changes of undies and socks per day that time of the year, and that's just normal everyday stuff and in TN rather than FL.

We went in 2006 it didn't rain a drop in 10 days!!! Last year, it rained one day off and on!!!

IMO, No you don't need to take long sleeves or jeans or coats ect. We went last year 8/30-9/5 and I took a pair of jeans and a very light coat for both kiddos, and it was such a waste of space. It is still very hot towards the end of August, even at night. We went swimming one night (as most ppl. did) and we were totally fine. I would take ponchos, but that's it. Have fun!

For August, I would say don't worry about pants or long sleeves, it's pretty hot. Do expect rain. I personally don't deal well with rain ponchos, and just got wet, but the rest of my family all wore them last August.

No long sleeved items needed but as a previous poster said, extra underwear, socks and t shirts... I went last July---- ended up using 2 sets of everything every day... did laundry which was no big deal--- waiting for the wash while lounging by the pool... Jill

At what point in the year does the weather cool down enough where you might need a sweatshirt or pants?

I think most will say the weather doesn't break until later October(ish) and even then, it's probably rare to need a sweatshirt. We are going in December this year and have seen pictures ranging from people in fleeces, jeans, gloves, hats and scarves to people wearing shorts and t-shirts at night. It's all variable. Our last trip was in September and it was HOT in the day, pretty warm at night. Not once did I even think I would have needed a long sleeved t-shirt, let alone a jacket.
