I am an AT HOME cropper!
I have done one all day crop way back when I didn't have as much stuff!
NOW I am going on an ALL WEEKEND crop -
What do I bring...and more importantly NOT bring!
I hate to look like a clown walking in with a zag, a bucket and three bags. But I also am SOOOO use to just having EVERYTHING at my disposal!

HELP!

Hi Patty,

I have the same questions as a couple of friends and myself just signed up for the Scrapper's Paradise in Manchester, NH in September.

I have an entire room dedicated to scrapping, so I have no idea what to take and what to leave at home!

Hopefully someone can help us . . . .

I don't know should we offer help....since we aren't going!!?!?!? HA! But since I have my first one planned I will offer my opinion! But then again I offer my opinion all the time!

I say more is better! I plan to bring my crop in style bag, JR and XXL! Plus my photo case. But since I am a mobil scrapper that is about all i have.

Do you know what you are working on? A variety of stuff or one main thing? That could help you narrow stuff down. But from what I have seen with all day crops people bring everything including wonderful wire shelf things they place all there stuff on THis one lady had a hand made stand. It was 2 tiers, held her tape, sissors, blade runner, little x machine, punchies she was using. It was amazing and so was her books@!
So I say bring it all! Plus with your spending habits....it might help you stop shopping since you have to lug it all! HAHAHHA
have fun and when do you go?

Believe me you won't look out of place bringing everything except the kitchen sink!!
But if you want to be one of those folks that travel a bit lighter I can see how difficult it can be!
I usually pre-plan my pages-pick the photos,papers,embellishements-I take several "sets" of pre-planned then I have some choice as to what to work on. I also take some extra papers, colored cardstock just in case! I take all my markers/pens, adhesive, ruler, paper trimmer, scissors, eyelet tools, glue dots.
Ohhh and don't forget your camera!!
Have fun cropping!

My suggestion to you is to cram as much as possible into as many bags as necessary. I occasionally crop at a friends house and try to get real organized ahead of time. (Kinda like Grover said) However, it never fails, something is missing or I change my mind and need everything I didn't bring, etc and I end up having to stop scrapping for the evening.

The crops I have been to were at my Creative Memories Consultant's home, so if I ran out of something, I could buy it! But, I would pack the following:

The photos (obviously)
My album
Paper
Stickers
Any diecuts that pertain to what I am working on
Adhesive
Scissors
My CM cutting system, including personal trimmer
Corner rounder
Pens
My favorite snacks, gum, mints, soda, water
I have a little cup holder/trash bag I got from CM that screws onto a table- I love it, it's a must have now.
My favorite idea book
My square/circle/hexagon maker from CM

Lucky for me I think all crops will be at my house from now on...I recently became a CM consultant and am looking forward to having people in my home to work on their books! :)

WEll I am lucky that I am going with three beginner scrappers sooo our table won't have much of their stuff! :)
I think I am going to meet with them though to see that we won't double up on a lot of stuff - we could share!

I am not working on a THEME
I don't even think I will bring an album - just a package of refill pages and page protectors (that might save a little space!)
I HATE to make page kits - but I think I will - I really can't drag all my paper there! But embellishments - I think I better cram my 'BUCKET' (which by the way I got a COVER for at Home Depot last night - It makes it a stoll - and now I don't have to worry about it tipping in the car and stuff falling out! Those of you who haven't seen my bucket have NO idea of course - just ask - I'll take more photos and repost!)

I guess I fhould go buy a minivan bu Friday so I can bring my zyron, sizzix, and EVERYTHING else!

I think I am in trouble here guys!
The people I am going with have mmm... one bag (the cm Navigator type size bag!) each.
They are going to DIE when they come to pick me up with all my STUFF!

I HATE the idea of page kits - I KNOW that I will sit there and ohhh I should have brought yellow cardstock to double mat that! Good thing there will be a 'Vendor Faire' there!
I think I will do them anyways the idea of bringing ALL my cardstock is VERY UNrealistic too!

Anyone else with ideas keep them coming...
Thanks a bunch!

Grover - my camera - good call - I think I'll just bring my digital though! Them I don't have to worry about it getting stolen or broken like I would my SLR!

I think after my house is built I'll do 'CROPS at Patty's house! - get rid of the kids for the weekend! :) It'll be easier! LOL

Personally, I always take as much as I can (which means 3 trips from the car) even with stuff stacked on top of my XXL. I'm so afraid if I leave anything at home, that I'll need it!!!

Have fun!!

LOL! I always try to pre-plan, but then I seem to take more than I need! I bring my XXL(and everything that fits in it), then my paper taker and my psb and also a tote bage with my pre-planned pages. I rarely travel with my siszzix or my xyron(only my small one(which fits in the XXL).

Patty are you going to the week-end crop in Marlboro? I am thinking about going to the shopping part only(due to the cost)!

I am also going to Scrappers Paradise in NH in Sept! We will need to meet up! LOL

Hey Pauline-
yep that is the one - I didn't think the price was that bad - is it? I know you go to a LOT of crops! :)
Maybe when my kids are bigger :) Or our house is built!
I have my DIS pin on my CIS Navigator - and you've seen my pics on the borads - give a shout out if you see me :) I would love to meet you! - Finally - the MA group dates NEVER work for me it is VERY fustrating!

I better start packing now though - it is going to take me all week!

will there be any shopping available at the crop? If there will be a shop available, then I pack a lot lighter and feel confident that if I forget anything I can always buy it.
If there will be shopping available then I don't take all my cardstock, just anything I know I really want to use.

I always take all my tools, nothing worse than needing an eyelet setter and having left it at home. Saying that, you can nearly always borrow any essential tool from someone else in the room.

I usually take all my embellishments, there's nothign worse than knowing you have the perfect button/glitter/fiber at home and you haven't brought it.

I love my PSB but it gets very full and overstuffed, so I filter it out and remove any old stickers that I know I won't use.

Do try the page kits - not only do they help lighten the load, but they help me get a lot more done at a crop too.
Mine are not fancy, I just take 12x12 plastic bags, and put in the set of photos I want to use. I choose some solid cardstock to coordinate and put that in, then if there is any patterned paper I want to use then I add that. If I am feeling REALLY organised, I might type up some journalling (on vellum if I don't know what I am going to do yet, vellum always seems to work), and put that in, but I don't manage that very often!
If there are any specific embellishments I want to use, diecuts, stickers, etc then I will add them too, but that's quite rare. Quite often its just photos and cardstock, but even just that minimal amount of effort means I don't have to cart ALL my cardstock, and helps me to get started at the crop. Otherwise, I've been known to sit and stare at 100 colours of cardstock and 3 photographs for the entire afternoon unable to even start!

To really focus your planning, imagine you have to fly to the crop! I nearly always fly to weekend crops, as there are none near here, so everythign has to fit in my navigator, and it has to be under the airline weight limit, that really focuses the mind, let me tell you!

Oh, and if you end up taking everything and the kitchen sink, I wouldn't worry - you won't be alone! I have seen people need 3 or 4 trips from the car, and have one friend who regularly brings a fridge!

Bev-

A fridge?!?!?!?!?!?!!? LOL!!!!! That cracks me up!!!!

Oh my! What am I in for in Dec when I go to my first crop!
Oh Patty you will want to bring your books to share and enter in contest!

I was thinking a cooler -
but maybe a fridge would make more sense!!

NO NO NO NO NO NO

ya'll are being a bad influence on me - a cooler will be fine! AUGH
lol

LOL, Our UK Fridges are quite small you know, but in her case it's a rather small one!

Are these popular in the USA? they are all the rage in the UK at the moment.

Actually, I think Cheryl's is a bit bigger than this, it maybe holds 12 cans?

on what to bring.

I have been to a couple of weekend crops but it much different than the one you are going to - We go to a lodge for a weekend and it is only us so we can leave our stuff out all weekend.

Here's how what I bring:

Cooler - with favorite cocktail, some snacks, and soda.

Cropping Things - all cutters, punches, templates, you get the picture - all of your portable cutting tools

Idea books - but I've never opened them at a crop

Pages and protectors - I bring my album to share but usually keep it in my room until it's needed. Remember you can always lug all your stuff up to your hotel room and only bring down what you need to the crop. The advantage of the lodge is we don't have to pack and unpack in the evenings.

Embellishments - all of them

Paper - I usually try to bring most of it I have a CM not the tote bag but the one up and it is chucked full of paper.

To recap I basicly bring almost everything with me. Usually atleast 4 bags of stuff.

Have a great time.

What time does the shopping venue open up? I am going to my SIL to crop for the day and sleep over on Saturday and I will go drive by the KISS event on my way and my make a side trip just to shop (not that I need to buy anything) before going to her house or on the way home on Sunday.

Happy packing

Bev-

I have seen those, but currently I don't think they're very popular in the states right now. Maybe on college campuses...I'm not sure. They are cute though! :p

They had those little fridges at the grocery store around fathers day-my son loved them-wanted one for his room!! Cute :)

Patty -

Don't worry - there will be loads of scrappers there who look like they brought their own store to work with! That said - it helps to have your supplies well organized. AT SDV, we could leave our stuff out. I think some people brought sheets to cover their area for the overnight but most just left their supplies out.

I agree that you can always buy whatever you might have forgotten too (and a perfect excuse for shopping!)

I'm bummed that I can't make it - my DH has to work all day - I may try to stop by for the shopping but I'll have my boys with me (which seriously cramps my shopping style...) Have a fantastic time!!!
