packing for a 16 month old

Table Toppers. No need to use plates or try to hold down a wrapper or napkin for a 16 month old. Buy the kind that has a holder once (looks like a mini wipes container) and buy the refills after that.

We're brining our 11 month old in a couple of weeks. I'm taking everything that isn't coming back with us (formula, diapers, wipes, disposable bibs, snacks, ziplocs, table toppers, etc) and putting it in a box and shipping it this week. I figure, it's cheaper and easier than the baggage allowance, and I don't have to bring it home, so it doesn't need room in the suitcase.

The one thing that we always bring that is a such a life (and wallet!) saver is juice boxes. It can get really hot in WDW and my kids are ALWAYS thirsty. Those $2 water bottles definitely start to add up when you are buying 2 kids water several times a day, so we started bringing out own water and juice boxed. We dedicate one full suitcase to beverages and snacks like fruit snacks and cookies. We even bring a box of cereal so that they can munch on it while we are getting ready in the room in the morning and it holds them over until we can sit down and have breakfast.

Also, bring them some toys from home. We always let out DS pick out a few cars or things that he wants to bring with him. When you have little ones, you tend to spend a lot of down time in the room whether it's rest time or getting ready time or whatever. It was always nice to have a few things for DS and DD to play with so that they weren't bored.

You got a lot of great advice from everyone else - I will second the first aid kit!!!! You can get them at Target for pretty cheap.

Curious to know what a table topper is. Did not understand exactly from previous posts. We will be taking our 18 month for Easter.

Things we brought and were glad we did:

Disposable changing pads, bibs & placemats
Take 'n Toss spoons & sippies which we mostly washed and re-used
Rayshade for stroller to offer extra sun protection & even noise reduction during naps
Bag that attaches to stroller to keep diapers, wipes, changing pads, snacks & hat handy http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3091044
Sippy Pal sippy cup tether to keep toys & sippy from always being tossed on the ground from the stroller
Tylenol, Motrin, teething tablets, nose sucker, nasal drops
Ziplocs of all sizes
Small white noise machine since DD sleeps with white noise at home

You're going to have a great time!!!!

A table topper is a plastic disposable placemat that has sticky tape on the back to hold to the table. We use them everytime we go out to eat so the eating surface is clean. There are all sorts of designs like Baby Einstein, Elmo, and Dora, and they are about $8 for 20. We had a Tiny Diner before we started using these but DS figured out how to unstick it everytime.

They also make biodegradable table toppers (disposable placemats) for the same price! :goodvibes Waiters and waitresses are always commenting on how much they love them.

Thank you so much, I never knew that they existed. I have spent every meal that we have had out holding a paper placemat or a plate the entire time so that it didn't end up on the floor. This will make life much easier, and our trip to WDW much more enjoyable with all of our dinner reservations. Now I hope that I can find them.

They sell them at Target, BRU, online and I'm sure at WalMart too, so you shouldn't have trouble finding them. They are wonderful! Our DD's placemats came with a package of 4 crayons, though we don't use them since alot of restaurants give you crayons.

I am so excited! We are taking our DD to WDW this November for the first time!!!!pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: I am so afraid of leaving something so important, yet so overlooked at home. So I am wondering what was your forgotten item, or the items you brought down that you were happy you did. Especailly first aid items. Thanks in advance!!!

Thanks for posting - this has been a great thread!

I am taking notes and learning new things!!

Adding new things to my list:
Rayshade
Table Toppers (never knew these existed!)
Sippy Pal

Just got back from a short weekend here's my list (still on my desk from when I was packing last week):

Clothes (2 outfits/day for warm weather) and a cool weather outfit for night in case we are out and about.
PJs
Diapers (I took a small pack)
Wipes (bought a contianer just for Disney)
Pack n Play sheet
Matress protector
Blanket (one thin and one thick)
Bottles (our daughter still takes a bottle, 2 per day, so 3 big and 2 small, ended up only needing one bottle in our bag for the park)
2 sippy cups
bottle brush
travel formula (for the park)
bathing suits
swim diapers
shoes (took one pair that went with nearly every outfit packed)
crocs for the pools area
bibs
diaper bag
skip hop saddlebag for stroller
toys for hotel room (3 of her favs)

toiletries: Infant Tylenol, Infant Motirn (our daughter had just gotten over an ear infection), thermometer, hydrocortizone cream, neosporin, elmo banaids, baby shamppo/body wash, washcloth, hairbrush/comb, baby sunscreen, toothbrush/toothpaste

I have a SkipHop saddlebag that attached to the side of her stroller, for our days in the parks it held her diaper and wipes kit, a few snacks, some travel packs of formula, and a small toy (musical radio). The outside had a mesh pocket that held her sippy cup.

Then I have a SkipHop Duo diaper bag that attaches to the handles of the stroller. That would hold one bottle, a bottle of water, camera, park tickets, DVC member card, room key, wallet, extra outfit for DD, some drink mix packets, and some snacks.

I think that is all.

Yes, the Baby Einstein, Dora, Winnie the Pooh, and Sesame Street ones are biodegradable. I think all the original Table Topper brand ones are that way. You can buy the SS ones and it comes with a case for dispensing one at a time. Then you can just buy the refills. It fits perfectly in the diaper bag and we never wonder where the heck those table toppers went.

I really liked the Rayshade because it pulled down in different ways over the stroller canopy. But it kept blowing up with the wind so we returned it. We got the Protect-a-Bub instead which has tie downs on the side so it doesn't move. I think it just ties in a different way so it worked better for us.

It takes a few more seconds to tie on but it was worth it to not have the shade moving because of the wind. It doesn't pull down like the other one but the canopy moves on our stroller so we can adjust it that way.

Bib Clips http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog...54764&parentCategoryId=85181&categoryId=85203

Disposable changing pad

Table topper and take and toss fork and spoon

Diapers (ordered from garden grocers)

Wipes

mole skin (DD walked more than she did at home and got some blisters from her sandals.)

clip fan for stroller

ray shade for stroller

snack trap http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=6157&cmSource=Search (made my own tether strap to keep it attached to the stroller)

2 shirts a day and 2 shorts. (made sure they were interchangeable so if s shirt got dirty but the shorts were still clean I just needed to change the shirt.

I packed jammies in the evening and took her to a baby changing station and wiped her down with a rag, and changed her so when she fell asleep on the bus ride back to the hotel I didn't need to wake her.

A sling! Best thing for the bus ride. She would fall asleep and then I wouldn't have to have all the 'dead' weight carrying her from the bus to the room.

I think that's the highlights of our trip.:rotfl2:

Thanks :goodvibes ... I love your name. My little girls name is Grace.:lovestruc

Not sure if this duplicates a PP, so sorry if it does!

In December we brought for DD18 months:
-our own pack n play sheets for the hotel
-nightlight
-toddler sized forks and spoons/disposable & regular sippy cups
-glow bracelets to put on her stroller at night
-sunglasses (had Disney ones at Bed Bath and Beyond)
-lysol wipes
-travel & sample sized diaper rash ointment, laundry detergent, lotion -- anything I could get my hands on that we might need (my pediatrician always has samples out)
-bathing suit (yup, we swam in December)
-sunscreen

I forgot hats, but got ones on sale at the SSR gift shop for my girls. I packed my own diapers and wipes because I knew I'd need room in a suitcase for sovieniers when we returned home ;)

I had bought disposable bibs, disposable placemats, and disposable baby spoons. I bought some ziploc baggies and packaged them up with everything my child would need for one meal. So, each baggie had a bib, placemat, spoon, jar of baby food, and a wet wipe. When I packed the diaper bag for the day, I put in three of these pre-packed baggies. It made meals so much easier!!!! Instead of needing to pull out a jar of food and then pull out a bib and then pull out.... I just pulled out one baggie and had everything I needed to feed the baby. It was so convenient!

You can order nappies (diapers), wipes etc from gardengrocer.com. Thats what we did and it saved us heaps of space. You can also order all your toiletries as well. Thats what takes up heaps of room. Also only pack enough clothes for half your holiday, just wash them when you spend a morning at the pool. It works really well for us. There are 5 of us and we manage with 3 suitcases ( plus a holdall for extras on the way home)

Thanks!! I have just had a look at gardengrocer.com think I may well do that!! I take it you just get them delivered to the hotel. Do you have to mark something special on them so that Disney know or will just getting them delivered to the hotel with your name on them be enough?

mo x
