Can I put food in my checked or carryon luggage. We are looking to being cereal, crackers, raisins, nuts, cheese, etc., nothing liquid. Do the airlines allow this?

i think the banned items have never been foods ...especially in checked luggage, it'll be scanned...check your airlines website for specific no nos
I have put liquids in several times without issue....almond milk, baby formula many moons ago, snack type stuff, etc....if they open your luggage (and we use tsa approved locks)_ they put a note inside...that happened twice to us over the years........

We took all kinds of breakfast/snack foods in our luggage...there was no problem.

The only issue I can see is that you've included a perishable item in your list. How will the cheese hold up without refridgeration?

A lot of cheese doesn't need refrigeration, or can go for quite a while without it. Like the little wedges you buy individually foil wrapped and sold in the circle? They can go days, I send those to my DD in college all the time.

Had no problems last summer. Brought yogurt raisins, granola, those individual bowls of cereal, cheeze-its, cashews and our candy bars for the return flight home! Some mornings we would get a couple fruit bowls from the quick-serve when we got our morning coffee/tea with our WDW mugs then just have fruit and granola for breakfast. Perfect breakfast for a hot morning when we didn't want to eat a lot then walk in the heat! :woohoo:

This is our first time flying. Where would you leave your medicine bag (toiletteries) is that a carry-on OR checked bag??

Go to TSA.gov for the rules about what is allowed to go in a carry-on. Anything not allowed goes in checked baggage, assuming it is allowed in checked baggage.

We just got back from out trip and both my sister and I each packed (and checked) a suitcase of dried goods (cereal, granola bars, crackers, cocoa, coffee, etc.) without any problem whatsoever. Just be prepared for some crushed boxes ::yes::
