I just wanted to let everyone know that I bought a few packing cubes today and can't say enough good things about them. I can't believe I haven't bought them before now and won't do another trip without them.

I travel alot and frequently with just carry on and they make things so much easier and more organized.

I'm going to target to buy more tommorrow!

I have some packing cubes, too. I used them on my last two trips (Disney, Vegas). They make packing so much easier!

I keep reading abut them....what sizes do you like?

I currently have 2 of the large ones from target. I am going back to get a medium and a small. All my clothes for a carry on fit in the 2 large but I am going to give one to my husband and break that one down to the medium and small. I am seriously considering buying them for the entire family. I just don't know if I want to spend the money right now (we leave in 2 days!). A large was 14.99 and I believe the medium was 11.99. They come in all different colours so each member of the family could have a different colour assigned to them.

I like how organized they keep my bag. I also think I can put more in my bag using them. I can find things easier and it will be alot easier to unpack when we arrive.

We tried them after reading so many rave reviews and loved them! It was so much easier to pack using them and they also helped us stay more organized during our stay. We've already recommended them to many fellow travelers.

What are they? Does anyone have any pictures? I looked on Target's website but couldn't find anything called packing cubes.

I don't have a picture but if you google packing cubes there is lots of pictures. I didn't buy them on line but in the store.

Oh goodie....another thing I "HAVE" to have before my trip! Thanks for the positive reviews. I think I will hit Target tomorrow and check them out.

more room means more stuff

more stuff means more weight

overweight bags mean $$$$$!!!!!

Yes, they are great but be careful!!

I agree they could be dangerous that way! I didn't take more but just organized it better.

I love the packing cubes and packing folders. I find that they really don't save me room in the suitcase, they just organize the clothes and help keep them from wrinkling and shifting position in the suitcase.
We got the packing cubes and folders for our European trips - I don't have to worry about security messing up my clothes if my bags get selected for a hand search.
I especially like the packing cubes for socks and underwear as you really don't have to spend a lot of time unpacking your suitcase - you can just unzip the cubes and put them inside a drawer.
Packing cubes are very different than space bags or ziplock bags. Using space bags and ziplock bags can cause you to pack more causing your luggage to be overweight. Packing cubes and folders do not let you compress the clothes - in fact you cannot compress the air out as one side is mesh.

Are the cubes in the luggage section of Target? Mine didn't have anything other than space bags.

I really do not understand this. Is this essentially a suitcase within a suitcase? Can someone help? I have seen the pictures, but just don't get it. When I pack I end up sticking stuff in little nooks and crannies to get it there efficiently. This seems like it would allow me to pack less.

Someone please enlighten me, How are these thing any different than any other type suitcase, if anything they look like they would hold less, does it have something to do with being able to carry them onto a plane instead of checking bags.
Or is it a better way to pack a car.

Hi! Is there anyone that could elaborate on these packing cubes that have been described? People seem so happy with them. But, I don't know that they'd be better than compression or ziploc type bags. I use some giant, like 2 gallon size I think, ziploc bags and can fit lots of stuff in my big suitcase while staying under the weight limit. It's very, very heavy, I can't really carry it so good thing it has wheels, lol, but, it's always passed the weight limit. And the bags keep the different things organized. Only problem is, sometimes they don't stay airtight. So, I'm wondering why, or even if, these packing cubes would be any better, especially if they can't be decompressed. Thanks :)

Ebags.com has some nice packing bags. I have purchased several sets over the past few years and love them!

I just bought some packing cubes a couple of days ago :cool1: They are the Eagle Creek brand. I also got a couple of the packing folders that look just fantastic. :woohoo:

But I think the difference with Ziplock bags is that you can fit more into the larger packing cubes and the packing folders that i got fit up to 15 shirts/tshirts/polos. Also the difference I think to the compression bags is that the packing cubes zip open at the top (like a suitcase), so it would be easier to arrange things in there than sliding them into the bags. Also once the compression bags have the air sucked out of them, they can make the clothes crinkled where as from what I have read about the packing cubes, they keep the clothes straighter and less wrinkled.

Again, I haven't used them yet, so that's just what I have gathered from reading and looking at them.

Weekly biz traveler here.

If you don't travel frequently I wouldn't bother investing in packing cubes for a once a year family vacation. (Sticking small items in ziploc bags accomplishes the same thing) I agree they are nice for keeping small things organized, but I wouldn't pack everything in cubes. They are great for socks, undies, sundries, etc.

Thanks for the replies! I will probably just stick with the ziploc/compression type bags as it makes for more room and still keeps everything separated and organized! But, those who like the packing cubes definitely make a good case for them, lol!

OMG!! I :love:LOVE:love: my eBags packing cubes!

I have at least a few in each size (slim, small, medium and large) and in three different colors. I first used them for our Disney trips and now I have found so many other uses for them.

When we fly, I use a small cube to pack an extra outfit in my carryon. That way, when I go through security and have to open my carryon to remove my computer, my clothes and underthings don't go flying all over the place:rotfl2:. They are also great (as a PP has mentioned) for keeping organized at the resort. I can just pull the cubes out of the luggage and put them in the drawers. It makes re-packing to go home very easy. I used a total of 5 cubes (3 medium and 2 large) for my family's 9-night trip this past April. All five cubes fit very nicely in our Eddie Bauer Large rolling-duffel, with room to spare.

When we are not on vacation, the cubes are great for the beach. We pack our extra clothes in a medium cube and our towels in a large cube. They have handles on them so they are easy to carry. I use a small cube to send a "backup" outfit with the kids when they go to Granny's house when DH and I are at work. The girls use the slim cubes to keep their hats and gloves together in the winter when they go to school. DH uses one as an "emergency kit" in his car...blanket, flashlight, first aid kit, jumper cables, etc.

In a nutshell...they are great!:thumbsup2
