Packing Clothes - Any tricks to prevent wrinkling

I tried Downy wrinkle release and to me it was a joke. I always read to roll. Ok, so I rolled. I couldn't believe how absolutely horrible they turned out. I'm sure I did something wrong even though I watched a video. My next thing was the packing cube (I suppose is the term). It has a plastic piece that you use to aid in the folding. Much like stores use. Then it goes into a velcro sleeve with the plastic piece on top. That has been a lifesaver for me. It's not perfect but much better than folding them and sticking it loose in the suitcase.
What you've described is a packing folder. I bought one for a cruise next year since they won't allow irons. With the packing folder and Downey wrinkle release i'm hoping for halfway decent looking clothes.

If I'm worried about wrinkles I try to pack shirts and dresses that either aren't prone to wrinkles or I pack stuff that looks good wrinkled. My dh is another issue all together. If he has to pack dress clothes he takes a garment bag.

Thank you! "Packing folder" makes sense!

I think tissue paper theoretically has a shot at working (the same way dry-cleaning bags work) but only if you've packed lightly enough that the weight of the clothes don't compress one another. As for the packing cubes, those have never made sense to me - the smaller you make something the harder the wrinkles are "pressed" in.

For me rolling does help, I just have to take my time and roll slowly and carefully to avoid rolling wrinkles in. I thought the packing cubes were silly until I tried them earlier this year. The packing cubes keep things from sliding around in the suitcase during transit which decreases wrinkling. I also use the packing cubes to sort things. My last trip to WDW was almost 2 weeks and included running in 3 runDisney races. All of my running stuff went in 1 color of cube and my regular stuff went in a different color. Made it easy to pull out just what I needed. I know people who use a different color for each family member when suitcases are shared. I also bring some of the wrinkle release spray for touch ups.

Any Australian backpackers around? We could ask them. They seem to smash all their clothes in their small backpacks on their trips and they come out looking just fine.

I use packing cubes to keep things organized and tightly roll the clothes to prevent wrinkles.

So one thing I've never been quite able to figure out is how to prevent clothes (especially nicer dress shirts) from wrinkling when I pack. Any tricks?

What I've been forced to do is basically unpack everything when I arrive, hang it all up, then be forced to fold it all again when I leave hotel. This works fine if I'm staying at a property for 4+ nights. But really a pain in the butt if I'm only in a place for a few nights before I move on to the next destination.

I had to pack my husband's dress shirts and I would roll them in plastic dry cleaner bags. This always kept the wrinkles out. He had many overseas business trips and never had issues with wrinkles - makes good use out of suitcase space also - he hated hanging bags and would never use them.

Some of mine were pretty wrinkled, so I mustn't have folded them the right way. But I will say that hanging them up and sticking it in the bathroom while someone showered worked really well for me!

I use tissue paper. Then it is available to wrap souvenirs if needed or flattened for use next time.

I'm thinking the shower steam + downy wrinkle releaser might do the trick.

I use the shower trick for my business clothes. I just hang them in there so they get a nice steam. I generally by the "no iron" shirts anyway so they don't get too bad in the suitcase.

I also use this. I travel about 2-3 weeks out of the month, sometimes less. My wife for Father's Day got me a genius pack carry on. I also bring a travel steamer which helps with wrinkles.
