We are flying out of London, ON next week. My daughter needs pudding to take her daily meds (can't swollow pills). Can I pack pudding cups in our checked luggage? I wasn't sure about packing food???

Hi Hon
I have packed,pudding cups,individual size juice plastic bottle,tuna,crackers,apple sauce,
bagels,,etc in my checked baggage,,I've flown out of Toronto Pearson and Hamilton airports.
Anything I'm worried about getting squished or torn open I pack in "Pringles" potato chip tubes.
Hugs Mel

Don't forget to declare your food items even if they are allowed into US. I use a Nexus card and I decide not to bring any food to avoid unnecessary time delay. I am not sure if they want to see the declared food items or not. Since I clear customs in Toronto, I just buy whatever I need after security for peace of mind.

We brought apples and mini carrots, cheese, some nuts for snacks and a few other things just yesterday through Pearson with no issues.

Sealed packages should be fine, as long also as it says where it was made. You should have no problem. We have brought stuff in the past when our kids were really small. Now we usually order groceries and have them waiting for us at the resort. For us, its easier and saves room in our luggage

I would expect that you didn't declare them? If you had, an apple certainly wouldn't have been allowed through.
Yes I declared everything and it was allowed. We cross the border several times in the summer for camping and apples have always been allowed. I did pack them in my carry on just in case things were different at the airport. But no problem.

Yep we declared apple slices that we washed and cut for DD then 6 to snack on. She showed the US border guard her ziplock of apples at YVR and he said have a good trip.

We always bring home the delicious caramel, peanut apples from our Disney trips and just declare them at the border. Have never had any problems at all.

My DD had a small jar of peanut butter in her carry on bag, security at Pearson would not let her take it. It is considered a gel.

Driving across the boarder I have never had a agent ask about food. You do nor fill out a customs card. They ask about alcohol and cigarettes. Also ask how much you spent that you are bringing back.

At the airport they ask if you have any fruits or nuts, seeds, animal products and I can't remember what else..But they ask on the computer screen thing where you scan your passport and the agent at the desk asks.

I hate to admit this, but I packed half a Papa John's pizza on a flight once. I was leaving my parents in the States and didn't want to throw the deliciousness of my pizza away, so I wrapped it in aluminum foil and some layers of clothes in my carry on. Once I got through security I chowed down on half of it and saved the other half for when I landed back in Alberta.

I don't see the problem there. Except for the part about it being Papa John's. But ymmv on their pizza.

It is fine for checked luggage, but would not be allowed in carry on. I would be careful about how you package it. Remember that luggage is scanned before loading. A bunch of yogurts end to end in a Pringle's tube might look a bit suspicious and subject your bag to secondary (manual) screening.

A pizza might also look suspicious, especially to hungry TSA agent on the scanner :) (maybe he left it when he discovered it was Papa John's)

Yes, it's allowed in checked luggage but I'd pack them in ziplock bags just in case they explode due to cabin pressure.
I pack some things in my checked luggage for breakfast like instant oatmeal packets, and bagels.

We were asked on our last road trip about food, specifically fruits and veggies. Had to hand over our clementines but not our cucumber slices :)

I always double check what they allow shortly before leaving. I hate having stuff thrown out. We had that happen to us once when on our way to go camping across the border. The previous time the item was allowed. This time we were required to walk back to Cdn customs and throw it all in the garbage bin. I was livid.

This trip I packed mini cereal boxes, Poptarts, goldfish yogurt in a thermal lunch bag with ice packs, in my checked bag. Just declared them when going through customs. DD had another bag of apple slices that I had washed and cut, and expected her to show at customs but she was hungry and had finished them by the time we got to customs. 2 whole apples!!!!!
