We're going to WDW in June. This is my first time flying, anywhere! I grew up camping so we always had everything we needed on hand. We drove from PA to FL for our last WDW vacation and had everything in the car, so flying from PHL to MCO will be a new experience for me and DD

We'll be in FL for 7 nights/8 days, but I'm only packing enough clothes for about 4 or 5 days (I plan on doing laundry at least one day while we enjoy the resort pool). I have 29", 25" and 21" uprights in a set and another pilot case so I don't think space is an issue for the 3 of us.

I want to take along snacks and maybe some beverages. I'm wrestling with the idea of taking drinks on the plane and I know I could ship a package ahead of time, but I don't know if the extra expense is in our budget.

I can't decide if I want to pack the drinks as checked luggage or take a soft-side cooler (without ice) or the pilot case with the drinks (again, without ice) and as carry-on. I could add ziploc bagss of ice when we check-in.

As of now, I am planning to purchase 8oz cans of soda and 8 oz bottles of water to keep the weight low, and maybe only 12 of each just to have something in the room when we are on a respite from touring the parks. I Guess I could buy them awhile and load them up and see how much they weigh together.

I've read as many posts as I could find and have found numerous responses, but not really any answers. Will it be a problem taking the drinks as carry-on, if not too heavy?

I would recommend buying your pop and snacks when you arrive. Given the weight and room they would take up, it doesn't make sense to me to buy them at home and tote them down there (unless you're driving).

We went down in October last year, and used a town car service. We had them stop at the store and got all of our snacks and beverages when we arrived. We also found that the hotel gift shop had a good variety of snacks and beverages (milk, wine, pop), and were pretty reasonably priced (we stayed at Shades of Green). Even if you have to pay a little bit more, it's worth the added convenience of not having to lug all of that stuff on the plane. With the weight restrictions on airline baggage now (most are 50 pounds per bag), bringing that stuff with you doesn't make sense to me.

Order and ship (for free after registering) your water from Staples.com! That will save space and won't cost you any more!

It may not be wise to pack soda...

I would get the water delivered like a previous post mentioned. You can also buy from Crystal Light those individual packets to pour into bottled water to make lemonade, iced tea, and different drinks.. Very small too!!
