Packing a Portable Fan

The regular pillow might be an inch thick, the body pillow needs to be folded in half, so comes out less thick than a regular pillow once vacuumed.

I also travel with spare vacuum bags and pack all my clothes in for the return trip so there's room for souvenirs. Often I'll buy a cheap body pillow to take with me and then leave it behind.

It's not crazy at all. If you have back issues (or are trying to prevent them), then it makes perfect sense to keep your posture correct while sleeping.

Thanks I definitely need to try this even if it means leaving the body pillow behind.

I know you can request a box fan at the resorts but I have a very late night arrival on my first day.

I am thinking about packing it in my checked baggage. Has anyone done this? I am certain TSA will search that bag but they wouldn't confiscate it would they?

I wouldn't count on being able to borrow a fan at a resort - even if they had them to "check out", you wouldn't be guaranteed that one would be available. Better to bring your own small fan.

And the TSA wouldn't confiscate your fan - Is there a reason you think they would? It's not against TSA rules. They prohibit things like flammable liquids, etc. in checked bags, but not fans. If you're worried, you can double-check the TSA web site.

Thanks again for the tips. I priced body pillow at target for 9.99 and now need the bags which I will get on eBay. For that price I will just leave the pillow behind but I'm happy now I will be able to sleep.

Oh fab! I'm so glad I was able to help. As I said I know what it's like. Have a great trip :)

Last year in September I tried to get a fan from CBR and they didnt have any. So we schlepped to Walmat only to have them tell us that they were a summer item and they no longer were selling them. It was SEPTEMBER IN FLORIDA!?!. Anyway, I used a white noise app on my phone (to drown out hubby's snoring) and it worked OK, but I would have much rather had the fan, as it is louder. I will be bringing one this year.

We've never had a problem getting a fan at Pop. We used to bring a fan until we opened our luggage one year to find it destroyed. The whole thing was made of metal. No idea what happened, but it was toast. We list it as a request, and sometimes it's in the room, but if not, a quick call to housekeeping gets it to us in minutes. Though if you have an iPhone or iPad, the Sleepy Fan app is great.

does anyone know if AoA suites have ceiling fans?
AoA suites do not have ceiling fans. (Which is "Thank Goodness" for me because I'm the opposite of other folks in this thread - moving air and noise keep me wide awake all night!)

Not going to WDW this trip but we are going out west. I am packing our hard side cooler with some paper goods, a few snacks & my fan! I am in the throes of hot flashes and the thought of sleeping without a fan causes me stress. So, add me to the list of fan sleepers.

WOW guys Thanks!!!!! Its been a while since we flew. We are also flying southwest. I didn't even think about my fan. I NEVER travel without it. Will be packing it in my suitcase!
