We don't leave for 3 months- but it's going to be a crazy trip!

I'm driving down alone on a Wed night and will arrive on Friday morning.

My son will hang with daddy at home until Sunday then my parents will pick my son up and drive 2 hours to detroit to fly down to meet us.

During that time- I will be doing a 3 night 'girls only' trip with my SIL and MIL.

THEN I start a 5 night vacation with my mom and son....and we all drive back together.

SO.....I have a 10 night trip for me, along with packing for my son for those 5 nights and 5 hotel stops....2 on the way down, 3 for the girls trip, 4 at WBC and 1 on the way home.

I have to pack the car in good order so I don't have to unload all the crap at once. My needs on night 1 are not going to be the same as my needs on night 6. I'm already writing multiple packing lists and figuring out how to divide it all up so I only have to lug what I need at that particular time and how to pack the car most efficiently!

You sound like me:rotfl: we only stay one night on the way and one night on the way back. But I make everyone share one large duffle bag for those nights, because we are not unpacking the entire car when we stop for the night. I do not start packing until the week before though, it's summer and we are going to need all of those clothes.

For me it's about packing the non-perishables....things like extra paper towels, sunscreen- all those kinds of things that need to be packed for the time we are in the condo.

Clothing and personal items will be packed a week or so before.

Our trip isn't for another 5 months, but I'm working on my packing lists. This will be our longest trip ever, our first overnighter with 3 kids, and first plane ride for the younger two (and the oldest was just 5 months the last time we traveled on a plane or more than one night). 12 days plus an over night plane flight is a lot to consider with 3 kids under age 6 and an over-planner mom to boot. I'll probably start throwing stuff in an open suitcase a month before. That's just what works best for me to keep my stress levels down!

I make packing list way in advance too. There are lists for carry on, check through and park bags. If i am going to need special stuff in the park on a given day such as specific character autograph cards (I make those), there are lists for that too.

And since I usually go in December there are alternate warm vs cold weather clothes lists. I altered a little memo book to have pockets and keep the lists on pieces of card stock there. I check off in pencil so they are reusable.

I have non Disney packing lists too.

I certainly would start organizing my packing.....though we would not have enough clothes to park much before time.

We did a road trip once with multiple hotels on different nights. One thing we did was to secure enough suitcases for one for each change. Small carry on bags for one or two nights, and larger bags for longer stays. Pack just what you will need for that night. When you are ready to leave each place, dirty cloths go back into that suitcase. It does take a bit more clothes as you may normally re-wear something twice or wear a gown more than two nights but it is soooo much easier to deal with. Pack one bag with make-up, body products etc. That bag will need to go in every night of course. Use luggage tags to label bags for each stop if you are like me and might forget! I have tons of 31 bags that work well for holding enough clothes for just a few days.
