ok ladies and gents
you have truly inspired me, i love to look at everything you have done, and have finally gotten the courage to go fabric shopping. i got an adorable pink fabric with black mickey mouses on it and i am going to attempt to make dd2 a dress for our august trip. now if only i could bring myself to cut it. well hopefully when dh is off from one of his two jobs i can find a free hour. well thanks again and keep the great stuff coming. i absolultely love it. also ds5 loves to look with me and is thrilled to see some boy stuff. thanks again from a new girl:)

I would wash your fabric before sewing with it. If it shrinks after you sew it together, it could come apart. I wash all my fabric. In fact, today I washed about 20 yards of fabric. I have (whatever my counter says) to get all my outfits done!

I made the elastic longer than they said to and it fit Jenna just fine. I'll post pics tomorrow of the outfit that I made her using the Criss Cross pattern.

I think that is what I'm going to do, there is plenty of fabric but the elastic makes it a little tight. I think if I just increase it by an inch or two it will ease it up. How much did you increase it by?

Totally OT but Thank you (and everyone else). My friends death has been a horrible shock. Babies are doing okay. Poor dad was one of those guys who had never cooked a meal/given a bath!!! But he's learning. Currently, everyone is doing okay. First couple of days were rough (baby was solely nursed and the 3 yr old...who may be autistic...just wandered around yelling "mom"). Baby had a rough transition to formula/bottle (we couldn't even put stored breast milk in it because mom died of pneumonia and the CDC called and told us to toss any stored milk cuz it could have passed). Okay seriously...that's the end of my sad story for today (this is a board about the Happiest Place on Earth for cryin' out loud)! The important thing is that they are doing ok!

Wow, that is awful for a young person to die of pneumonia in this day and age. Glad they are doing well and the Dad is learning to cope! I'm sure it is a challenge for him!

Oh no...I'm sorry...I forgot! Yes, it was her first :) Hope things get moving QUICKLY for you! :goodvibes

I was just joking! The last time I was induced they started the pitocin, turned it off 5 minutes later and Claire came into the world about 2 hours after the whole thing got started (from getting undressed to birth that is). I am sure this one will be quick and easy (kind of anyway!) too.

I've never made this, but sometimes I have to adjust the elastic in the back so I would think that would work. I have been shirring with elastic thread in the back of things lately and I really like that look too.

Shirring and I don't really get along too well! I've only tried it once and I should probably try it a few more times before I give up on it though!

I think the adjustment in the length of the elastic will fix the problem hopefully!

I am sitting here planning dd4's "Disney" dress. She wants a patchwork twirl skirt. Well after doing the math I have to cut 65 squares! And that is being modest. I may want to double each tier instead which would mean...120 squares....okay maybe not double. that is crazy!

Go ahead and double the tiers, they really look so cute when they are full.

If I remember correctly (feel free to jump in at anytime here Tom!!). When Tom used rectangles he doubled the waist measurement (so a 20 inch waist would get (10) 4 inch squares. The next tier would also get (10) squares but they would be 8 inches (not in length, just width) so that the tier would double but at least you are not doing double the cutting. The third tier would be double again so that the width is 16 inches. Hope that makes sense!

Yes, this is sad, because it was a drs mistake basically. She had her spleen out when we were in college and was never told that due to her compromised immune system, she needed to get a vaccination every year. So my public service announcement of the day is: if you have your spleen removed....get a pneumonia vaccination.

You are so lucky! I was induced 4 times and NOTHING!!!! Ended up with a C-section after a month in the hospital- I had preeclampsia though and they were inducing me early

Just realized that I have 4 months from today till our MNSSHP vacay!!! I know that we are going to WDW twice before then but this is the BIG trip and I can't wait!

:furious: last night I was doing great until........ I started the Ruffles on Madis shorts for her ariel outfit! I ended up giving up last night and went to bed. I have both tops done and both pairs of shorts except the darn ruffles. I now do not have enopugh fabric for a shirt for me. Oh well. wait I have to go to town to pick up my new glasses maybe I can swing a trip to walmart. :rotfl2:

DH told the ladies in the fabric dept yesterday I have an addiction! :lmao: My Name is Elizabeth and I am a frabrcaholic!:thumbsup2

Jajone: I don't know where in Wisconsin yet. I will ask. I think she said outside of Milwaukee.

I live west of Milwaukee in the Hartland area. See if she's moving out around here- ok?? She will love it here.... if she can handle really cold, frigid, snowy winters and cool breezy rainy summers. Well........ that's the description of this years' weather anyway. It'll change by the time she gets out here though!

Okay my ever so talented, ever so giving of helpful information new famly. I have indeed found out that the skirt I want to make is the insa pattern. Has anyone ever used that particular pattern? Got some ?'s if you have.

Also I am thinking about taking the leap into the world of the ruffler....my question is how do I determine how long of a strip to make for this particular thing. In other words if I start out with 20 inches (just for s&g as I know that is no where near enough) what will I end up with and will I always end up with that same length if I always have my ruffler set to the same notch? Thank you so much.

I found the most adorable fabric at a Quilt store in a city near where I live. I think it is going to be a great match up to go with the JoJo shirt. Only thing is I wanted to find a coordinating set of polka dot fabrics to match and that seams to be the issue I am now having. But onward I will persue.:moped:)

Thanks so much for any help you can lend.

(I am enjoying a wonderful thunderstorm right now. They make for a beautiful backdrop to a mid afternoon nap.:cloud9:

Yesterday a.m. I noticed my DD3 had the most swollen little ankle. Couldn't even see the bone on the outside of the ankle it was so swollen. (Now as a backdrop...from the time she was about a year til about 2 or 2.5 she had nothing but problems. She had impentiago on her legs which in one spot turned into cellulitis (pardon the spelling) had probably 4 boils at different times around the line that her diaper touched the skin, every time she got a little scratch she was sure to have a lovely infection and either more cellulitis or another boil) So I see this bite on her ankle which is not even touching the discolored area and I think well is it related or no. Because around the swollen area it was HOT and there was also some bruising. So I drive her an hour away to a differnt DR because hers is booked and he says "is she complaining of anything else" I say "no why?" he says" She has a bad ear infection and what looks to be strep starting in her throat" I could not believe it. Still at this point you would never know this child has a thing wrong. I guess the swelling came from the bite but still have no clue what got her. Just can't believe it. This is the 4th time she has had this happen that we end up at the dr only to find she has something else going on with not one symptom. I think she must have the highest tolerance for pain of all of my monkeys.

UGH!!! No advice here. I know my DS NEVER showed signs of ear infections and one was so bad it ruptured his ear drum...it never feels good to go to a Dr. for one thing and be admonished for missing another  I'm sorry. I hope she feels better soon.

Thank you for the tips on the minnie bracelet, I think I can do it myself. I may be wrong, I've never made beads out of clay, but what the hay, I'll give it a shot. Not that I'll ever have time to do it! I thought that sippy cup said Lillian, I was trying to read it b/c my Lily is a Liliana, though she gets called lillian more often than not.

Still winning both of my fabric auctions:wizard: Noone bid against me, okay?

This was taken just a few minutes after she was born.

Here is Adara at 3 days old, in her leaving the hospital outfit.

My husband's grandmother knit that sleeper about 28 yrs ago for a family friend when they had their first baby girl. Five years ago, when the friend heard we were expecting for the first time, she dug out the sleeper and gave it to us. Each of our children has worn it to come home from the hospital.
Bryce was very close to his grandmother so it's extra special to us. Grandma passed away about 12 yrs ago but we have several things she knitted for our babies, years before my dh and I ever met. She left him a box full of little things she had handmade, each with a label in her own handwriting, for the great-grandchild she knew she would never meet.
Many thanks for all the congratulations and the compliments on Adara's name.
Her middle names are taken from two of her great-grandmothers. Hazel was dh's grandma -the knitter- and Antonina was my grandma.

What a sweet baby! I love that you have all those knitted things. Thisngs like that are just so special.

This is what I did last night, just a simple top and shorts. DH does not think the patterns match but who cares what he thinks (well, I did ask his opinion so it's my fault). And I made a matching shirt for her brother even though he is less than enthusiastic. Question for those who have made this before: would it be ok with one bigger button rather than the two small ones? If I make this again, I think I would rather have one button so it would be easier for small fingers. Opinions?

Again, no model. :( I go up and get them Friday.

Love it! I think the fabrics look great together.

How cute! I love the shirt. I think the fabric goes fine together.
Here is my Fourth of July outfit. I just found out my sister-in-laws from Dallas are coming for July 4 :yay: I just got Kayla's hair cut today. I was kindof drastic but I love it!!

I really like the back! I'm going to have to go get started on tops for the girls.

:worried: :worried: Please pray for my family !!! I feel that things are just getting worse in my life, my headaches are worsening and I am scarred to go to see my neurosurgeon as I know that I will not get good news,...then this morning 6:00am my husband was on his way to work on his bicycle and got hit by a car, the driver took off , my husband was knocked out on the street, no one stopped to help but a homeless guy who ran and called for help, he was taken to the hospital, Thank God he is OK, nothing serious but the tendons in his right hand were badly damage and will need surgery...I feel like I am falling apart :sad1: :sad1: I am so sorry to be so off topic but needed to let this out of my chest...

Thank you for listening

linnette

 That's awful about your husband!I'll definitely be praying for your whole family.

t-beri or anyone else who is curious I wanted to tell you how I did the minnie bracelet in case you wanted any help. I bought the wooden beads and got a small paint brush from the craft store painted them the base colors I wanted. Then to do the dots I broke the very tip off of a tooth pick and then smashed it on the counter to flatten it. Dip it in your paint and then gently touch the bead with it. Oh put your bead on something that gradually gets bigger so you don't have to hold it while you paint it. My DH gets a lot of medical pens where he works so I took one of those apart because they gradually get bigger and used the cartridge to put the bead on. You can use a blow dryer to dry it well enough then balance it on the hole so it doesn't roll. As for the minnie head. Roll all three of your balls(2 smaller ones for ears) then with the tip of something rounded (I used a candy thermometer) push down gently to put the dip in for her ears. And I did the bow the same way as a fabric bow only gentler. Make a rectangle and push together in the center. Put a hole toward the top of the ball (make sure it is big enough for your thread or what ever you use to fit through) that is the head then push the ears on then the bow and bake it in the oven per directions. If you are going to make one that is going to be for a necklace pm and I will tell you how I did that one because you have to do it different to get it to lay right?

98happy I don't think I will ever get to the bracelet because I have so many projects but thanks for being willing to post the directions! It's so cute!

Has anyone sewn any seersucker? They have some cute stuff at walmart...Would I just use it like plain cotton? (I know, probably the silliest question, but you guys are so encouraging you get me over all my anxieties!)

Did you post pics?? How did I miss this??

I think that is what I'm going to do, there is plenty of fabric but the elastic makes it a little tight. I think if I just increase it by an inch or two it will ease it up. How much did you increase it by?
I just increased it by three inches and it is a little too loose i think, but Jenna likes it that way.

DH told the ladies in the fabric dept yesterday I have an addiction! :lmao: My Name is Elizabeth and I am a frabrcaholic!:thumbsup2
Hi Elizabeth. My name is Crystal and I am also a fabraholic.

I've sewn seersucker. I'm not sure if you are supposed to do it differently or not. I just do it the same way as regular cotton and haven't had any problems with it.

hey again everyone. I've been missing you all so much. What great creations we have come up with while i've been down and out. Im finally to the point where I can sit for a lil while at the computer chair and not be in great pain. I can't possibally catch up with all of you. I go to the doctor 2morrow to look at my incision to see when I can drive, and do house work again. It has been 2 weeks, and my laundry is tremendous. I still am not to the point where I can bend over and pin, and sew so we'll ahve to wait for any creations from me. Thanks for the prayers.

I did a couple of very very simple dresses with it and I washed it and then just did everything else like normal. But that was the very first clothing thing I ever did with a pattern so I might have been wrong:) Good luck!
