:worried: :worried: Please pray for my family !!! I feel that things are just getting worse in my life, my headaches are worsening and I am scarred to go to see my neurosurgeon as I know that I will not get good news,...then this morning 6:00am my husband was on his way to work on his bicycle and got hit by a car, the driver took off , my husband was knocked out on the street, no one stopped to help but a homeless guy who ran and called for help, he was taken to the hospital, Thank God he is OK, nothing serious but the tendons in his right hand were badly damage and will need surgery...I feel like I am falling apart :sad1: :sad1: I am so sorry to be so off topic but needed to let this out of my chest...

Thank you for listening

linnette

Linette, you all are in my prayers.

I posted this over on the crafts but, thought you all might want to check it out. They look super easy to make. It would make good totes for water parks or well all kinds of things. You ladies and guys are creative. I am thinking WDW bags, Disney store bags (it's been so long I forget what they look like  ) etc.

Anyone see them? There is a tutorial over on etsy (click). I saw some for sale at Target (click) but, I couldn't bring myself to buy plastic bags, lol. I have a couple of disney bags left over from our trips. Why oh why did I toss most of them. :( Anyway when I get done I will post some pics. Here are some other cute ones I found online: here, here, and here.
Those are just wallet styles but, imagine them in a big bag faaabulous! There are lots of cute bag styles at etsy (non-disney) to give you good ideas about what kind you could make.

so.....who has some bags they'd like to share ;)

I need help with the YCMT Criss Cross Dress!

I am making this for my daughters for the Fourth of July. I have the top part done for my oldest and I tried it on her so I can measure her for the skirt. The top is pretty tight on her, wearable but maybe slightly uncomfortable. I know I measured her correctly and was wondering what anyone might think the problem is. I was also very careful with my seam allowances too.

When I make the next one for my younger daughter (whose measurements are almost exactly the same) do you think I ought to increase all of the measurements or do you think I should just increase the length of the 4 pieces of elastic in the back by an inch so there is a little more "give"?

TIA!
I made the elastic longer than they said to and it fit Jenna just fine. I'll post pics tomorrow of the outfit that I made her using the Criss Cross pattern.

I saw this in a magazine this week, not sure which one now. Thought it was a little different, but they just showed you making a plastic bag with all kinds of different colors. These were much cuter and different!

Linnette, I am so sorry life is so hard right now. First, you need to go to the doctor. It may not be good news, but he will take care of you. We all care about you here and want you to be well.

Second, I am so sorry your dh was hit. I can believe no one stopped though. I witnessed a wreck a few weeks ago and I was the only car that stopped. Other cars just kept going around the wreck without a care in the world. I hope he feels better and the surgery goes well. You will both be in my prayers.

My youngest brother was in a really bad motorcylce wreck about 3 weeks ago. He has crushed his wrist and ankle. They have told him he will be lucky if he gets 95% usage back in his foot. They have finally moved him over to rehab, but it will be a slow recovery. He has no income right now and wants to move in with mom, but I am not sure if my father can handle it. He has very bad pain from the neuropathy in his feet caused my diabetes. Hopefully he can stay with one of our other brothers. (I have 3)

Oh, that is sad. Poor babies not having their Mommy.

Oh my goodness, how sad!!! I am so sorry to hear about your friend!!!

Totally OT but Thank you (and everyone else). My friends death has been a horrible shock. Babies are doing okay. Poor dad was one of those guys who had never cooked a meal/given a bath!!! But he's learning. Currently, everyone is doing okay. First couple of days were rough (baby was solely nursed and the 3 yr old...who may be autistic...just wandered around yelling "mom"). Baby had a rough transition to formula/bottle (we couldn't even put stored breast milk in it because mom died of pneumonia and the CDC called and told us to toss any stored milk cuz it could have passed). Okay seriously...that's the end of my sad story for today (this is a board about the Happiest Place on Earth for cryin' out loud)! The important thing is that they are doing ok!

Linette - I will have you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Tnkrbelle565 - I will also have your friends family in my prayers, it will always be something they will deal with and I am sure they can use the extra prayers!

Prayers being said- WHENEVER you need them! Please keep us up on how your DH is doing!

I like these patterns together! I love your DS's shirt too!
I did mine with just one big button on each side. The only thing I would recommend is to make the buttonhole go ACROSS the top instead of perpendicular. I did mine the other way as I was worried that the buttonhole would actually be too big to fit, but it makes it hang lower than it is supposed to... I could "fix" it by moving the button back on the underside, but I'm too lazy...:rotfl2:

Thanks for the advice! I will definitely do the one-button next time.

I love these. I have a pattern for a round neck top but haven't figured out what fabrics I want to use yet. Love Jacob's shirt too. I may have to CASE this for Michael and Parker!

Thank you! I can totally see cute Parker in one of these.

th_IMG_4491.jpg

Very cute! I think you did an excellent job on the zipper. I have read about people making shorts just using some existing ones, so just try it! I need lots of instructions so I bought a couple of patterns when they were on sale at the store.

They look great! I REALLY need to get going on some 4th of July stuff! I haven't sewn in 2 weeks! Sadly I've been cleaning house and doing laundry instead.

Well, that's what I should be doing, lol. I have a long list of chores and a huge stack of sewing so guess what I am tackling? ;)

Steph - I did DD's round neck top with only one button. I actually like it better with just the one... (Of course, I think she has the top on backwards in these pics.)

th_IMG_0780.jpg
th_IMG_0781.jpg

That is cute, even backwards. I like how you did the contrasting button. I was so afraid that I was going to mess them up so I bought buttons the same color as the collar. I like how yours looks so I am going to try that next time. Thanks!

Love that top! I think the fabrics look great together! Love the T too!

Thank you!

Super cute!!! You realize now I HAVE to make DD something for the 4th, right?

Thanks!

Typically its pretty hot and humid here on the 4th - where are you going to be in PA???????

DH's parents have a tiny cottage on the allegheny outside of their home town of Warren. The best way I can describe it is halfway between Pittsburgh and Buffalo. It is usually hot, but it is always cooler down by the river and I remember one year it was raining and chilly (well, chilly to a Floridian, lol).

Cute! No, it's not too much; I think it is great!

If y'all have some time take a look at this.

http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/vintage-pillowcase-lunchb.html

It is a pattern for the cutest lunchbox ever!!! And she also has some other cute things for tutorials....

That is cute! Thanks for finding and sharing.

I'm an auntie (again but if never gets old!). She doesn't have a name yet  but she sounds good! Daddy put her up to the phone and said "say Hi to Auntie Kristine" and she let out a good yell! :thumbsup2 That's my girl!!! Poor mom has been in labor for 22 hours and pushed for over 4 hours!!!

Congratulations! Poor mom.

Those are totally cute! I love making shorts for boys; they are so easy.

I think that it is cute and I always only do one button.

Thank you!

HEY guys!!! There is a new pattern by CarlaC over on YCMT!!!

THE NEW BOWLING SHIRT IS HERE!!! THE NEW BOWLING SHIRT IS HERE!!!!!

Hooray! :cool1:

Please go to the doctor. Isn't it worse not knowing? Hope your husband is better soon and the surgery goes well.

Awww I think those look great Steph! I have learned to just NOT ask my DH's opinion on sewing stuff!! Hahahahaha!~

I bet you can't wait for Friday, huh??? Are you gonna spend the weekend with your folks up there??

Thanks! He always thinks everything is "too much," so I usually don't ask. I think because Megan wasn't here I wanted reassurance. Yes, I trust Megan's opinion more than his (she has to wear it, after all).

Yeah, I am going to drive up Friday and spend the weekend with them. I think Jacob misses me but Megan could not care less! :rotfl:

I need help with the YCMT Criss Cross Dress!

I am making this for my daughters for the Fourth of July. I have the top part done for my oldest and I tried it on her so I can measure her for the skirt. I've never made this, but sometimes I have to adjust the elastic in the back so I would think that would work. I have been shirring with elastic thread in the back of things lately and I really like that look too.

I posted this over on the crafts but, thought you all might want to check it out. They look super easy to make. It would make good totes for water parks or well all kinds of things. Congrats on being an Auntie again! I love being an Auntie!

Thanks for the compliments on Nikki's 1st home made dress. Nest I think I a going to make her a top from these project runway patterns I got at Joanne's. Well before that I need to make my son's build a bear dino a shirt per request.

So cute! I saw Jewel on Nashville Star last night with a top/dress with this neckline with 2 bottons and my 1st thought was one of the girls on the sewing thread just made this! :rotfl:

Here are a few photos of Star Wars shorts I made for DS, the fabrics are two panels that are for making pillows or hangings, and I added a cuff. I'm really disappointed how they turned out, I don't like how Yoda & Darth's heads are cut off. (But don't worry! I bought 4 more panels to make more!) But he LOVES them, and that's what counts, right?

OMG my son would LOVE them!!!!!! Where did you find that fabric???

I am sorry about your brother. I hope he recovers quickly.

That is such a sad story! Hopefully the family will grow stronger in time. They are lucky to have a friend like you.

I'm so sorry you're going through so much right now. I can't imagine someone not stopping after having hit someone. What is wrong with the world? ANYWAY - saying prayers for all of you.

THIS is COOL! Now I need bags...

Here are a couple of pictures of our precious new baby girl.
This was taken just a few minutes after she was born.

Here is Adara at 3 days old, in her leaving the hospital outfit.
th_AdaraDelivery085.jpg
[/IMG]

My husband's grandmother knit that sleeper about 28 yrs ago for a family friend when they had their first baby girl. Five years ago, when the friend heard we were expecting for the first time, she dug out the sleeper and gave it to us. Each of our children has worn it to come home from the hospital.
Bryce was very close to his grandmother so it's extra special to us. Grandma passed away about 12 yrs ago but we have several things she knitted for our babies, years before my dh and I ever met. She left him a box full of little things she had handmade, each with a label in her own handwriting, for the great-grandchild she knew she would never meet.
Many thanks for all the congratulations and the compliments on Adara's name.
Her middle names are taken from two of her great-grandmothers. Hazel was dh's grandma -the knitter- and Antonina was my grandma.
Adara is just beautiful and I love the going home outfit story...I hope you are getting rest and really enjoying your time together!!!

HEY guys!!! There is a new pattern by CarlaC over on YCMT!!!

THE NEW BOWLING SHIRT IS HERE!!! THE NEW BOWLING SHIRT IS HERE!!!!!

http://www.youcanmakethis.com/whats-new.htm

She also made a buttonhole tutorial!!! (that one's free)

ETA: And Luke is on there!
Yippeeee....just in time...and I bought it this morning....my new philosophy in life is this...if Carla makes it, I buy it. I have all of her patterns! And this is a one of a kind pattern cause I just spent a half hour on Sunday looking thru pattern books at Joann's for a bowling shirt type pattern and there aren't any. In fact there are like 152 patterns for girls and about 4 patterns for boys :headache: .So anyways,,,,thanks Carla for getting this out. I am making a birthday gift for a friend's son and I can't wait to try it out!!! :woohoo:

:worried: :worried: Please pray for my family !!! Awwww Linnette I am so sorry to hear about you and your husband...many hugs and prayers for you :lovestruc  Please let us know how things are going later today if you can. Don't think the worst....keep positive!!!

Thanks for the well wishes for my brother! I hope he is done with motorcylces. I know he is having surgery on his wrist soon. Not sure when.

Adara is beautiful! Congratulations! Love her take home outfit too! Both my girls came home in outfits made by my mom. All crocheted! Of course, dd13 came home in Feb in New York so she was toasty warm. DD4 came home in Sept in North carolina so she was half dressed!

Love all the outfits posted! Ya'll move through this board too Fast! Went to VA for 2 days and I missed so much!

The Star Wars shorts are cool!
The dalmation outfit is awesome. I hope it is okay if I semi-case you. I had already bought the bones and dalmation fabric and I have some pawprint fabric too!

I know I saw a minnie dress in there somewhere and it is really cute!

I am in the middle of a winie the pooh outfit with the circle neck. Wish I bought the one on YCMT because the McCalls one is not a favorite of mine. It used bias tape...I hate bias tape. After using CarlaC's patterns it is hard to go back to commercial patterns!

I just found out my friend down the road is moving in 2 weeks! I am so upset. I would say she is the closest thing to a real friend that I have IRL. Her daughter and mine are the same age and have been friends since they were 2. My dd13 babysits her kids often and love them. Why do all the good ones leave? And she is not moving close. She is moving to Wisconsin! That is forever away. I need to make her kids some crayon roll ups with their names on it so they remember us. :sad2:

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful comments everyone. I had to get a tablet to write all of my responses down because I am so scatterbrained.

Revrob- We are staying at POR 9-3 to 9-7. We are doing Chef Mickey, H&V, Princess Breakfast in Norway, and I think that is all I have scheduled for now.

Thank you again for all of your wonderful comments. Being that those were all firsts for me it makes me feel all giddy inside:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

If I missed anyone I am so sorry it wasn't intentional my tablet got a little messy:)

I'll be arriving at POR 9/7, I can't wait to get there. Would've been neat if we overlapped more. Your pictures looked great! I'm attempting to make some items, (I'm brand new to sewing clothing), but I just can't seem to get enough time to get it done. I haven't seemed to be able to get more than 15-30min at a time in my craft/sewing room. :-)
