Here is Ireland's pirate outfit for pirate night on our cruise...

The top wasn't hemmed in this picture..and excuse poor Ireland. She has a fever and we all have a pretty bad cold here...
This is what Lexie will be wearing...minus the yellow ribbon...
IrelandandLexieChristmas20072395.jpg

Very cute! Love the applique!

Here is Madis Ariel outfit I am going to add Ariel ruffles to the shorts thats why they are not hemmed yet.
madsarieloutfit003.jpg

madsarieloutfit002.jpg

I am also making Katie the same outfit and now I am thinking of making myself a top.

Love it! Is that another Carlac pattern? I need to order some of hers!

My DS (6) had his first performance of their Alice in Wonderland play tonight! It was sooooo fun! Anyway, DD (4) wore her Alice dress. I did end up adding a pocket with the white rabbit on it (that way I can remove it if I want!). I was able to edit the design somewhat to have fewer overlapping stitches and the black outlines. I am much happier!

A close-up of the pocket - sorry for the lighting, I took this while waiting for the play to start!
Alicerabbit.jpg

And for my DS I embellished the pocket on a store bought shirt with his (Disney-ized) character from the play - the five of diamonds...

And here they are after the show... DS was so proud to have "goodies" (flowers and balloons)
Aliceballoons-1.jpg

I think they turned out awesome! I think the rabbit looks great. How did you edit? What program do you use?

That is so cute Stephanie!! We love Marie!

Mickey looks adorable!!!

Thank you!

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Have you heard from the kids, are they having fun? How many more days till they get back home?

Yeah, they call me every night. They are having a great time and being good (most of the time). Jacob misses me a little, but I don't think Megan could care less, lol!

Oooh I love it! It's adorable. And I'm glad you haven't been resting or relaxing or anything with the kids away!
:(

Oh, I've been doing plenty of that too, don't worry. I wanted to clean out the kids rooms and the pantry and all I've cleaned is the pantry. I have been very lazy.

Mickey is adorable! I love it so far. I can't wait to see how it looks on Megan!

Me too! Thanks.

Very cute dress, so pink and girly! :cutie:

Mickey is stylin! :lmao: I bet that outfit will look adorable on Megan, it's really pretty :)

Thanks!

Mickey is VERY pretty! Cute outfit!!!

LOL, thanks!

Wow, that is one cute outfit! It even looks gorgeous on Mickey! :rotfl: Seriously, Stephanie, didn't you at least have a Minnie to put the dress on? ;) What happened to your plan to use one of the neighbor's kids? :lmao:

It was raining, so they weren't out playing, lol. I have to go pick up some girl scout paperwork from a friend so I am going to see if her daughter can try on the stuff that I've made.

PRECIOUS! You know we're all gonna be dressing our Mickey's & Minnie's now, right?

LOL! That's all we need, right?

Do you think we should tell Minnie Mickey is wearing her clothes????:rotfl2:

Yeah, I don't know why but we have two huge mickeys and tiny minnies!

That is great!

Thank you!

Mickey's so pretty. The dress is adorable.

Thanks!

That's cute!

Thank you!

Cute! It looks like we picked the same pink fabric, lol. Your appliqué came out perfectly.

Cute! You did a great job on it!

I made my daughter something very similar last summer and it was one of her favorite outfits. It looks so cool and comfortable, and it's adorable!

BTW - I occasionally have problems with white bobbin thread showing through or where a line of stitching on black overlaps a light color stitching. I'll admit I "cheat" and use a fabric dye marker to make the light threads less noticeable. A sharpie marker might work, too. Shhhh don't tell anyone... it's a secret?

:faint: LisaZoe cheats? I refuse to believe it, lol!

I am totally going to try that next time I appliqué: thank you so much for sharing with us!

So cute! Your appliqué is so stinkin cute and that corset makes me want to try one. Great job on both of them.

Wow, I hope your cousin appreciates the hard work that went into each little thing. I love the top stitching on the a-line jumper, it adds so much. They are all beautiful and so small!

Wow, I am glad you didn't listen to me, that rabbit is adorable and looks perfect right there on the pocket of her apron. I love the card on your son's shirt too. It looks like it was a great night!

Oh, I almost forgot to mention:

shameless plug: I updated my trip report!

I finally finished everything that I was going to make for my cousin's girlfriend's baby shower tomorrow.
I made two lacy white bonnets with pink ribbons.
S2010249.jpg

A pretty pink floral swaddler blanket.
S2010250.jpg

A cute size 3 mos A-Line dress based on CarlaC's pattern.
S2010251.jpg

An adorable pair of Zebra PJs.
S2010252.jpg

A little pink diaper cover.
S2010253.jpg

And a cute size newborn size dress.
S2010254.jpg

With the exception of the two dresses all of the patterns for these items came from Teresa's bookmarks. So Thank You Teresa for the bookmarks. I enjoyed making each one of these items. They were all so easy.

You really do have some lucky friends!!!

Sorry to have been mostly absent this week but I have been going crazy getting ready for our beach trip. I don't have pics of all the customs yet and I still have one more to do tonight (we are leaving in the am) but I wanted to share this one because I love how it turned out. I will take lots of pics and post when i get back. By then I will have probably 100 pages to catch up on. It is only like 15 now. LOL Well here it is, I fell in love with this whale fabric at joanns. I am making russell a shark outfit to coordinate.

THis dress is adorable! Great job on the applique.

My daughter's crab outfit almost finished. I ran out out bias tape! I used the tension technique to ruffle it. Works like a charm!
Very cute. I wish my JoAnn's had those fabrics!

That turned out great! So cool and comfortable.
When I appliqué, I loosen the tension on the upper thread so it's easier for the machine to pull it through to the back. Don't forget to adjust it back to the normal setting when you're ready to do other sewing. :)

I am not sure I can adjust the tension. The machine is supposed to be set to "E" when you embroider. I will keep the marker idea in mind though for next time.

Poor Ireland. We had colds here too. Me and DH had it the worst. I love the pirate outfits and I would love to be going on a cruise!:sail: I love how you used the Minnie Dot in those outfits.

I did this on some shirts I made. I ran out of time and used some red Sharpie. About 4 days later, my nephew wore his shirt and got stuck in the rain. The Sharpie ran!! :scared1: I thought they were supposed to be permanent.

Love your pockets. How do you do a prepurchased shirt? Do you take it off? I've always avoided them because I wasn't sure. :(

Fantastic Job! I bet the dress was the hit of the show!

I think they turned out awesome! I think the rabbit looks great. How did you edit? What program do you use?

Thank you! I use Pallette, but I don't have a lot of confidence and it takes a long time. I have to do all of my "drawing" right there in pallette as I don't have any drawing software, but it does make things a lot more "editable" when I do them myself!

Wow, I am glad you didn't listen to me, that rabbit is adorable and looks perfect right there on the pocket of her apron. I love the card on your son's shirt too. It looks like it was a great night!

:rotfl2: Thank you! I was GOING to listen to you, and then DD got insistent!

They both look So Adorable!! Hope they had a great time!! How many performances are they doing??
Thank you! They are doing three performances total, so there are two left. Seems like a lot for a six year old, but he's loving it!

Love your pockets. How do you do a prepurchased shirt? Do you take it off? I've always avoided them because I wasn't sure. :(

Thanks! I've never done one before, but it was SO easy, I'll be doing it again for sure!:thumbsup2 I just used a seam ripper to remove the pocket and then followed the old stitching lines to sew it back on. It looks like I never touched it!

Fantastic Job! I bet the dress was the hit of the show!

Oh thank you! It was a big hit... DD loved the extra attention which was nice for her since she isn't old enough to partcipate yet. DS thought it was pretty neat too since he knew I made it for "his" show. Its so nice to make things and have them be appreciated!

I did this on some shirts I made. I ran out of time and used some red Sharpie. About 4 days later, my nephew wore his shirt and got stuck in the rain. The Sharpie ran!! :scared1: I thought they were supposed to be permanent.

Oh no! I wouldn't have expected that to happen. I use the dye pens (purchased from JoAnns) because the smell of Sharpie marker makes me ill. I do iron afterwards to "heat set" the dye although the pens indicate it's not necessary. I wonder if it's just the red marker. I got the idea to use Sharpies from some fabric painters on :wizard: who said they use black Sharpies for outlining and other small details.

BTW - Another option are the markers made specifically for clothes - such as to mark clothes for camp. I've never used one and don't know if they come in many colors but at least those are made to hold up to laundering.

Those are great! I'm sure your children had a great time!

Hi everyone! I really don't know where this week has gone - I've not had anything different on to normal but I just don't seem to have 5 minutes to myself. Anyway, I've just had a quick skim through everything and there are some beautiful outfits posts, as normal.

I have however had the time to finish one outfit - good job as I've been at it for weeks!! I cut out all the pieces and when I came to add on the contrasting colour it was no where near as big as the piece I was joining it too, so I abandoned it for a while. I was convinced I'd done the pleats horribly wrong but after going through everything again, it looked OK so I just recut the colour to fit. I'm pretty sure the pattern was wrong as the top doesn't look wrong (to me anyhow)

Picture004-1.jpg

One day I will make something that fits I promise!!! I'm too tight to make a 1/2 and it only last a short while so Hope's having to wear a huge 1 for a while longer!!

Please excuse the dribble - it doesn't last forever does it???

Thanks for looking - Clare XX

I've spent what feels like the last 3 days updating my Trip Report. I had SOO many pictures to go through. This one includes our Bibbity Boppity Boutique experience. So, here's my shameless plug:

I UPDATED MY TR!!!

That is so great! LOVE it!!! And your DD is so adorable!

I went to an art/craft show today and saw lots of great things. I saw the cutest A-line dresses. The top was pieced in half vertically and then there were 3 horizontal layers and the layers were seperated by very wide rick rack so that there were little holes in the dress. It was really cute.

This is the pattern I used. I had bought it for the Purple Princess fabric but ended up with Halter dresses :thumbsup2

You ladies are such an inspiration I have finally decided to start sewing for my best friends little girl. (I have 3 boys) My question is this " I am attaching a ruffle to the bottom of a dress and wonder if I should top stitch it after sewing it on. If so should the top stitch be above on the dress with everything ironed up or ironed down and have it below on the ruffle.

I like to topstitch. It gives everything a more finished look, in my opinion. I iron the ruffle seam up, and topstitch on the fabric that it is attached to just above the seam line.

Thanks, just finished attaching and I think I will do it like you said! BTW, thanks for the quick response.
