My petpeeve...why on earth do they need to package these suckers up like they do?

It takes me such a long time to get into them....it takes a kitchen knife or 2 to get into them.

the tape on the sides? OMG...even with a little pull thingy...all you get by pulling that is the little pull thingy...the rest of the tape stay put. if you dont have a decent length finger nail, forget it, you aren't listening or watching it today.

I feel your pain. The same is true of video games. I opened my share of those and DVDs yesterday.

ITA that the packaging is a royal pain, but I've always assumed it's "painful" on purpose to discourage shoplifting. The security sensors (AFAIK) can't be attached to the discs themselves, so they're attached to the inside of the case. --> if it weren't so hard to get the cases open, you could stroll out the door of the store with the discs in your purse, and the security machine thingies wouldn't detect anything.
