When I price out tickets and room separately on the Disney website it comes out about $20 less than pricing a package. Is this correct? If so, any idea why? I am looking at 2 adults for September 12-15 at a value with 3 day base tickets.

just for fun, i priced it out too...

i started w/a value resort and the free dining package, but there were no values available... a mod w/the free dining package was $900.62 (not including insurance)

then to compare apples to apples, i priced a moderate and tickets separately (no food!) room: $489.42; 3 day base tix $384 (w/out tax) or $408.96 (w/tax) for a total of $873.42 or $898.38... which is only a difference of $2.24, which i am going to guess is a tax somewhere...

for a value resort "package" (but not including free dining 'cause there are no values available for free dining on your dates) w/3 day base tix $689.24 (not including insurance)

value resort room only $276.78
3 day base tix $384 (w/out tax) or $408.96 (w/tax) for a total of $873.42 or $898.38... for a total of $685.74... which is a difference of $3.50, again, most likely taxes figured differently...

personally, going w/the moderate and the free dining is the best deal, imo...

if you'd like to pm me for more info/explanation feel free :)

I just received a quote for a package myself and it does include a few extras like a $14 Planet Hollywood food voucher, a voucher for using boats, and a voucher for a round of mini golf. I think there was also for a 5x7 photopass picture too. I'm sure these items add on to the extra cost.

believe it or not, those items do not add to the cost of a package... hence my math above... if they do, they add between $2 and $3.50... they are a perk for booking a package... they are what Disney "gives" you to stay on-site and lure you into never leaving (so you will spend add'l money on food, souvies, sundries, etc)... same reason Disney offers DME and excellent internal transportation... so you don't leave!
