That would depend on whether Disney is offering any type of room-only discount for the time that you're traveling. Lately, they've been concentrating on package deals rather than room-only deals. You can still get a room-only discount if you have an AP, live in Florida or are a member of AAA.
If Disney is offering a package deal (the current one is free hopper and waterpark fun addons to the purchased tickets), then purchasing a package MIGHT be cheaper than purchasing the parts. If you had planned to buy tickets with hoppers & waterpark fun addons anyway, this deal is pretty good. If you weren't, then you're really not saving any money.
If you're not traveling until after June 3, 2006, there are no current package deals available. My advise would be to book room-only with any type of discount that you are eligible for (AAA rates are out for all of 2006) and then wait to see if anything better is offered. If a good package deal comes out, you can always switch the ressie to a package.
